As far as I know Grimmspeed doesn't make a TMIC.
I have the Process West TMIC and love it. The thing is huge compared to the stock one, well build, and functions very well. The day I installed it I went for a drive popped the hood and touched it. The thing was cold to the touch, I could have never done that with the stock one. You also get new hood ducting. |

You can find it at either Rally Sport Direct or Cygnus Performance (expect it to be on back order wherever you order it from if you order it.

why does the process west look like a godspeed tmic? Which came first? Same thing? Why is godspeed 400 and pw 1000?
Edit: sorry this is what I'm referring to: http://www.godspeedproject.com/shop/...oducts_id=1542 Last edited by MTS; 11-16-2011 at 10:13 PM. |

pw came first. godspeed is a clone. not saying one is better than the other or anything but 400 is alot easier to spend than 1000. just sayin.

Yeah I was just wondering, because there were some other threads I found on the net comparing the process west bar-plate core to a stock STi core, and from what I saw from their compare photos, the PW is a godspeed/ebay-type core. Not a dense core in other words compared to say something like a spearco. They both claim 400hp support, which leads me to believe they're the same thing core-wise. I haven't seen a comparison between the two however. In any event, for those who want a TMIC and aren't going to be targeting over 350whp (you really shouldn't be using a tmic anyway imo) the godspeed seems like a better deal for sure. I can't say I like all the turns from the turbo. Every 90 degree results in 1% cfm loss, but it does allow for a larger length core, but then again, I like the look/configuration of the perrin/avo's a little better for the flanged setups.

I haven't looked at the godspeed IC yet. I have seen Perrin, PW, AVO, and FMS.(all brands making a TMIC for 11' wrx)
I have seen a few people with the FMS. I like the way it's looking and it is slightly better priced. Comes with all necessary hardware, hoses and air splitter just like the PW intercooler. It's not $400. but it's not $1000, more like right in the middle. This is the TMIC I will prolly get for my 11'. Let me know what you come up with! Yes i saw the FMS tmic and looks good definitly with the heat coating in black or other colors. just not sure on the quality of the product and i hear they are not the best coming from other people.I am going with a top mount cause its a daily driver and not planing to change turbos to recomend a front mount to handle more hp.i like to be arround 400.Definitly doing all the research to get a good quality and reconized name product.if u get the FMS top mount let me know how u like it.

I thought I also read someone mentioning the FMS is just a godspeed with a heat dispersal coating (I think it was a jib at their quality). I imagine there's a shed in china pumping these things out for a lot of businesses now. I would agree that a dispersant coating is a good addition to these cores, an extra $200 for this coating is a bit much IMO. If you have a local powder-coater, chances are they've heard of the dispersant coating or better yet, have some. I'd think this is a $60-70 job (usually priced by the cubic-foot, but check your local guy).

1000 for the genuine product that is using a high quality bar and plate heat exchanger. Quote:

Who ever is saying that the FMS/EBAY is the same as PW is clearly not holding both products in front of them. The final product is much better form the genuine company, better fitment (they actually care about there name on the market), and the product is using much better materials. Its quite simple, you cant cut 50% of the cost out of a hard product and expect it to be the same. Its not like we are talking about software here Its quite simple why the knock off companies rate there products the same way as the genuine company. 1) they dont have to do any testing 2) It requires a person with brain to measure these things and put out accurate data 3) This way the market doesnt know the difference between the genuine product vs the knock off. YAY for knock off products |

I've never seen either in person, but I was going by photos found on the internet:
PW compare with STi http://www.iwsti.com/forums/2-5-lite...options-7.html PW internal bar-plate core http://www.flickr.com/photos/c-loia/...in/photostream FMC/Godspeed internal bar-plate core http://legacygt.com/forums/showthrea...-171688p5.html Cores might have changed since those posts, but I don't think they have, judging from photos still shown on the web. I do believe you get what you pay for. The chinese ones will certainly always have something askew or need cutting/fitting to work. -Rob Last edited by MTS; 11-18-2011 at 12:42 AM. |

Further researched before I hit the sack, looks like PW changed to a better core on v2 of their tmic, but I still haven't found a pic of the internal fins. just posts about how FMS and PW next to each other are noticeably different.

After further research I retract my previous statement. PW TMIC FTW! Might as well spend the extra few hundred dollars and get a decent product that fits.
Although, i still haven't heard anything negative about the AVO's... |
