Default What OEM size front sway bar on a 2015 Impreza 2.0?

I am new here at NASIOC. This 2015 Impreza base 2.0 4-dr is my first Subaru and very recently installed a 22mm rear sway bar with adjustable links, whiteline polyurethane bushings and OE clamps. Along with 225/45-17 wrapped on 17x8 ET35 wheels ... it handles well on turns like it was on rails.

I was just wondering what the OE size of the front sway bar ... for posible increase in size if it is the same or smaller than 22mm.

Thank you

thank you,

Thanks very much for the kind words. Glad you found the post helpful. I sent you a PM with our info to avoid "vending" in the tech section. Not sure if the mods would care or not if I posted the link up here, but I figured I'd play it safe. If you have any questions I'll be happy to help.

Thanks,
Geoff

WHat older subarus can I use the ur size swaybar from? Which bushings did you use? endlinks? Sorry.....im a SubNub

(irrelevant-but i put a KnN air filter today after putting 1400 miles on the car and it feels like someone put lube into the engine..its so smooooth)

If you want to improve handling but not over do it I'd suggest picking up a used set of swaybars from a '15 WRX here on the site (lots of people upgrade their WRX or STI so the bars a cheap and make sure you buy their bushings too). The STI is 24mm frt and 20mm rear, not sure what the WRX runs but I think the rear is 19mm. A 21 - 22mm frt bar should be fine with a 19mm rear.

I'd recommend that you go Adjustable end links like one made by Whiteline. They cost out the same as the OEM (#20470FG00 $60.79ea) Subaru RSB links. From what I've researched, the stock endlinks are not strong enough for the bigger (22mm or larger) RSBs. Added to the list below ... you'd also need factory clamp bolts (2) part # 010108200 for the top mount @ $1.32 each

My Parts list:
1. RSB: UMUSA ($167 delivered) manufacturer part # SB SBR R WRX STI 0815 I purchased from eBay. It was advertised for use on any 2008-15 Impreza WRX STI. It comes with all the necessary hardware and bolts needed to install but I discarded the bushing and clamp that came with the set. They looked ugly and generic so I purchased #3 & #4 on the list below

2. End links ($120/pair per kit delivered): "Whiteline" adjustable sway bar endlink Manufacturer part #KLC182

3. OEM Clamps ($5ea - 2 picked up): Subaru 20466FG000

4. Bushing ($30/pair per kit delivered): Whiteline Part# WHI KSK001-22 with grease packet

Default Suspension not loaded when sway bars installed?

In the Rallysport video above I noticed that the suspension wasn't loaded when he installed the sway bars. I thought the suspension was supposed to loaded (wheels on ground supporting the full car weight) when these bars are installed? Or am I mistaken? Just wondering cuz when I installed my WRX rear bar a few years ago I had the car on jack stands with the wheels in the air. It didnt seem to make a difference/affect anything but perhaps I was mistaken.
If anybody can educate me, that would be much appreciated!

You're right that it's not true that the suspension has to be loaded to install the RSB. The only condition is that both sides are either equally unloaded or loaded ... for equal distance of the endlinks when connecting to the RSB. You got to remember that opinions here are mostly of "hearsay" and few actual experiences ... so take everything with a grain of salt and do some personal research.
Here's a more detailed video of a RSB install by another Subaru expert/mechanic Subispeed:

It is absolutely true that if you're "free length" unloaded drop on both sides is equal to the loaded height then there isn't an issue. In my experience I've never had a car that was the same height difference on both sides when loaded. If you've dropped the height, added springs or coil overs 99% likelihood they're different.

So I currently have a 2011 wrx with cobb springs stock shocks n struts. I read through your post thoroughly and find that alot is all preference. I'm planning on swapping the suspension out for the tein basic street set up and was wondering what's your opinion for sways front rear and endlinks with the option of a track day here and there...thanks in advance
P.s. primarily will be street driven. I live in pa and roads here aren't all that great but there's alot of mountains and I like to run through em and push the limits...

So for me who is 90% daily driver and at the track a couple times a month... It sounds like I should go 22 mm front with 20mm back?

A quick question regarding front sway bar installation on a 2014.

I installed a rear sway bar a few months ago and had absolutely no issues. However, I've finally decided to tackle the front bar and found myself struggling with six out of the ten bolts holding the cross brace in place.

I've let 'em soak for a bit, but they just won't budge. Should I try a breaker bar? I'm obviously concerned about shearing one of the damn things off.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have a 2015 slow 2.0 with MT. I recently installed a 22mm RSB and I couldn't be happier ... what a difference: it's like night and day. From a scary "I'm headed for the guardrail" understeer to a little touch of confidence boosting oversteer which is perfect for my occasional spirited cornering. If I am not mistaken (from other informative member's posts) the fronts are factory 22mm.

So knowing what an excellent transformation 22mm rear has already done for my slow 2.0 ... a 22mm rear would be my choice for a faster car ... just my 0.02 ... if ... I had a WRX.

I bought both front and rear for my 2014 hatch and have, so far, only installed the 22mm rear. I love it! I still want to try out adding the front as well, but the rear alone (on stock end links) has been quite enjoyable.

Can you can imagine me going from no RSB to 22mm RSB? From the feeling of plowing into the guardrail (severe understeer) to sure footed entry ... next hitting the apex accurately (moderate oversteer) then powering out on the exit? Man ... the change is like night and day!

I try to follow the same path of my turns as though I was cornering with my crotch rocket ... and the 22mm RSB delivers as expected.

Hello all.. Been doin research on swaybars.. Got the 2011 wrx in Australia... Was wondering what brand and size sway bar i could run on mine while maintaining stock components .. Not tracking just daily drives.. Tryna minimise body roll without too much suspension work if thats possible.. Just want a comfy ride.. Thanks
