That 5 pointer for USA was amazing. First curling gold. Awesome.

I was bored and watched a replay of the short-track speed skating. What is the ****ing point of the "B" finals? They all line up and race to see who still doesn't win a medal. I don't get it.

It determines the position of the back half of the field. I guess it's a way to keep them out of the way of the faster guys in the A final? Only thing I can figure.

That explains why there's hardly anyone in the seats

I'm kinda bummed I got stationed there a couple years before the games... It would have been awesome to attend.

Still cool being there for the Spartan Race, and would have loved to have gone snowboarding there.

Except those who race the B Final don't participate in the A Final. Literally it's a "final" with no impact on the actual medal-winning final. It's the "also ran" race. Top 2 from each semi go to the A, last two go to the B. A-race determines who wins gold, silver, and bronze. B-race determines who finishes 5, 6, 7, and 8. It doesn't make sense to me.

This makes sense outside the Olympics, unless this sport counts the Olympics as one of their annual series races. I can't find anything online to indicate the purpose of the B Final other than deciding who still doesn't win.

Dunno, I was more distracted by the drone with a light out and the Pandas dancing out of formation.

I'm pretty sure they had a race this Olympics where someone from B ended up with a bronze due to enough from A getting penalized. That had to be funny you win your meaningless race and go back to your room only to get a call that you will be attending the medal ceremony that night.

Also, wouldn't you want to finish 5th instead of 8th? Sports aren't about the winner and everyone else disregarded as losers...

If you're not first you're last!

With all the crashes in short track, and the number of people disqualified for touching another racer, I think it might be better as a time trial with only one person on the ice at a time. Then, instead of turning left all the time, they can lay ice on a go-kart track and make them turn both ways and accelerate and decelerate.

So, you want to change speed skating from "NASCAR" to IMSA?!?!

I think it was Vonn that said, "it was better being tied for 5th then being in 4th, it didn't hurt as much".
