I'm sorry if this is already in the thread somewhere, I did look. Can it camp? Can a roof mounted tent hold up? I'd love to have that setup, I'd hate to collapse my roof in the process.

the rating on the OEM bars is 80lbs. unknown if that's the bar limit or the roof limit...based on how much the sheet metal in the roof flexes when I wash my car..I'd guess its the roof limit lol.

Subaru of America says the WRX roof load limit is 88 lbs. Thule says their bars can handle 165 lbs but they say the OEM rack is only up to 88 lbs. The Levorg uses the same OEM Thule fit kit (3131) and it’s rated for 165 lbs. Yakima said they have tested their rack on the 2018 WRX and it’s good up to 165 lbs, which is obviously higher than what Subaru says. Just depends on whether you’re comfortable exceeding what Subaru recommends.

Since you installed using the OEM 2018 roof trim, can you verify if these drill measurements are accurate for the brackets on the trim?

Windshield to first hole: 11 7/8"
Windshield to second hole: 13 1/8"
2 center holes: 26 5/8"

I would recommend not measuring to get the hole locations. I suggest putting the rain gutters w the flaps on and using the opening in the rain gutters to mark the holes. I measured off a 2018 model and the front was dead on but the back was slightly off once I put the rain gutters on. The opening in the rain gutter shapes around the screw when it’s installed so you really want the mounting hole to line up perfectly w the rain gutter so I’d put the rain gutter on, mark the holes in the rain gutter (those are the screw holes that you attach the roof rack to), then take off the rain gutter and use the bracket to mark the holes that you will use to drill into the roof.

Default 15 WRX factory roof rack mount installed, yea I drilled it !

Also, if anyone is wondering, the OEM roof rack for 2018 uses Thule Fit Kit 3131.

https://cdn1.static-tgdp.com/assetlo...arket=US&att=1

Edit: Thule said the fit kit in the OEM package was 3131 but it’s not exactly the same. The molds from the 3131 kit and the OEM are not the same and have different product numbers. These pics are from the owners manual for the OEM roof rack and the second is from the 3131 fit kit. The part number is on the molds and they are numbered differently. I told Thule I needed an extra bolt and they sent me the whole kit and that’s how I noticed they’re different although both manuals state they are for the 2018 WRX.

So far so good, use the marine sealant that was recommended. Just painted my OEM rack black w truck bed paint (and my wife’s too).

I just finished this weekend, using the non-oem brackets in this thread on a 2015. Some notes:

* Absolutely do not measure if you're using the 2018+ channels with flaps. Like a previous poster mentioned just make sure the holes in the flaps line up with the mounting hole on the brackets.

* If satellite radio + nav, there's another wiring harness in the drivers A pillar, which you'll need to completely remove.

* Same with the drivers C pillar, the satnav wiring has another harness there to disconnect. The harness is taped to a fastener with electrical tape, don't forget to retape.

* For a little cleaner of a look w/ the marine sealant, apply a thin bead underneath the mounts and underneath the lip of the socket cap screws. This will also prevent any water that sits in the middle mounting hole from seeping underneath the mount. https://imgur.com/a/Yhedh

* Do not drill through the side curtain airbag if you use a long bit, it can be close

* I used the 1/4" rigid bit mentioned earlier in the thread, use lots of cutting oil and a slow speed on the drill

* It helped to use a center punch and then drill a pilot hole

* There may be some metal roughness around the lip of the holes, pretty easy to grind down with a Dremel and then apply touchup paint.

I went with the Thule Aeroblade 7603b and 7602b (M, L).

I tried both the 3131 and 3068 fitkit and I think the 3068 fits a little better.

The 3131 is the recommendation from Thule for the 2018. It fits in the channel perfectly, but on my install it presses on the channel cover when tightening the nut that holds it down. The 3068 straddles the channel cover a little better and doesn't squish it.

Anyone in Cali that has done this and is willing to help me do this to my 2015, please message me. I just sold my truck and need a roof rack for my bike. Thanks.

Anyone get the Krazy brackets to fit under the 2018 gutters with the plastic covers? Thinking of going this route on my 2015. Thanks.

So did you end up using the 2018 gutters on a 2015 with the Krazy brackets? Fits well under the covers? I'm contemplating doing this but the roof rack will probably never come off. Do you have a sunroof? It so can you provide the measurements from the center of the Krazy brackets to the sunroof since you have the 2018 gutters? Id like to place mine as close to the stock location as possible. Thanks.

Don’t measure to get holes. Install rain gutters with flaps, mark holes for roof rack, remove gutters, use roof rack marks to mark drill holes.

Thanks but I'm probably just going to reuse my 2015 gutters and not buy the 2018 ones.

Anyone recommend any bike carriers that would work with the Thule system? I need to be able to rack both mountain bikes and road bikes, thru axles and QR. Is there a system that doesn't require removing the front wheel or is that not safe? Thanks

I have a frontloader and it worked well for me. Drove around the country with my mountain bike on top of my element. Before that, I used to take road trips with my rat fink on top of my camaro (got flamed pretty bad for posting pics on camaro5 back in '11 LOL)

Default Cant wait

With in a months time from now, I should have started and finish this project.
I'll be going the riv nut route. There were people talking about using regular rivets for this earlier. Does anyone know how they have held up?

Still cant believe they would've taken out the mounts for the 15s to 17s
