Default Does anyone use their internet service on their phone?

I just got a new phone (Sprint PM-8920) and I am considering using the web services. Is it worth it at $15 extra a month? Are their any good mobile phone sites? Or is it a waste of time and money?

I'm not sure about your phone, but mine has a full featured browser in it. I can surf normal web sites. It's slow and tedious because you have to scroll around a lot to see the whole webpage, but it works. It was my only 'net access when I was in the hospital with the wife last week. I can also check my bank account, use mapquest, lookup phone numbers, etc. So it is worth the $20/mo. (T-Mobile) I spend for it to me.

I use mine for directions, weather and traffic and news if I am sitting and eating lunch. I also connect my phone to my laptop and pda for full web browsing, but I don't think that is what you are asking.

Got a Nokia 6100 (the newer one) and net access SUXORS on this phone. Atleast it sucks thru AT&T. Interface is cumbersome and repetitive.

I can't comment on your phone or service, just my experience

All of the time.. Have a treo600 on sprint. Get push e-mail, aolim, some web, and the synch cable lets me hook it up to my laptop and use it as a external modem when I am out and about..

That probably doesn't help you much though

I have At&t and I don't like it. It's slow, and with my service you can only browse WAP enabled websites....that and you have to keep scrolling to read anything worthy.

On the phone, I mostly just check email and do reverse phone lookups. But for a while my sprint phone was my only intarweb at the house. I got up to 30 kilobytes a second but it was very latent. The #777 ISP is undocumented and free for now.

I have a Spring phone, and the only thing that I use the internet on it for is to check movie times. That is it.

I'm waiting for CellOne to come out with EDGE and their unlimited plan. When they do that, I'll be using my cell phone for my PDA and Laptop when I'm out and about.

when i had sprint their text messaging was web based and charged you by the minute. it was slow as hell and and i didn't realize just how EXPENSIVE that could get... I don't know if the messaging is still web based but i ended up with a $900 bill. so... for $15 it might be worth it

Well my phone just came out about a month ago and it cost $300 so I am hoping I will have a full browser in it. Untill now I didn't know it could be that good. If that is the case I will definitly find good uses for it. Thanks!

Whoa! I didn't know you could hook it up to a laptop! No I wasn't asking that because I didn't realize you could do that, but that is huge. Thanks!

No it helps, because I have a new phone and use Sprint, so I have an idea of the service now. Plus I am getting a laptop soon. Thanks.

I use it all the time! Bluetooth phone + bluetooth laptop + bluetooth pda = the roxors. I have Tmo, so it's pretty slow. Pretty useful when I need internet in the middle of nowhere.

Aod: you know that Tmo has free internet, right? I don't pay a cent for my internet.

A somewhat useful, but still overrated wireless technology.

correction: an underutilized but pretty cumbersome wireless technology, that has good potential but crappy or half-assed OEM implementation.

I've got a Kyocera 7135 *bling* palm phone and internet is free on it with Verizon. I use it all the time. http://yp.bellsouth.com is much easier and cheaper then dialing 411 for $1.25 a pop.

How? I tried getting email and get on the web without turning on the Internet service, but it wouldn't work through my Treo 600. I had to have them turn on the service for $20/mo. flat rate in order for it to work. I am on a business account, so that may make a difference. I'd like to know how you are getting it for free so I can save $20/mo.

Thanks.
