You are never too old for Carbon Fiber or modifying in general. Where I live, I see people in their 50's and 60's with fully modded S2000's, Wrx's, M3's, etc. including exterior, interior, suspension, and engine.

I find CF is tacky as in most cases it's being used on daily drivers that don't benefit from the weight loss, the fact that the fitiment of a lot of the parts are poor, and the fact that many of the manufacturers don't finish the parts properly with enough clear coat and they yellow fast.

^thats why the Pagani Zonda R is completely naked carbon fiber along with lots of expensive road bikes. Only 12 year olds use both of those things. I personally don't see anything wrong with it as long as its functional which it is. There's a reason why people use it instead of aluminum.

What color is your car? If it's anything dark just go for it because it doesn't stick out nearly as much as light cars. Plus you could always vinyl your hood, roof and trunk in black and go that route (cheaper than painting?).

It doesn't matter how many years you've lived, just what you're comfortable with. If you're not sure about the CF hood, don't do it, it's a much bigger pain to undo than a shift knob.

Never. Do you like to shed weight. If you don't like the color or look paint it. Still saving weight.

Not as much. Paint can be heavy.

CF hoods are almost never lighter enough to matter on a WRX/STI. The OEM aluminum hoods are extremely light to begin with.

Actually some of the CF hoods are HEAVIER than the stock hood.

Unless you have a model that came with a steel hood, and getting an aluminum one means importing one.(i own a swapped 98 L)

Ok, so you are never too old for CF, but REAL CF. I once bought a bike motor, a cbr 600, and the engine covers on both sides, and a CF veneer. Definitely too old for that.

Point is, after about mid 20's, IMO, CF should be functional, not just for looks.

I am too old for this thread but I'd definitely put a cow catcher bumper on there.

this is mostly because carbon hoods are so cheap. a $250-$300 carbon hood isn't all carbon. it's 90% fiberglass with a top layer of the thinnest carbon available. a true 100% carbon fiber layered hood will always be lighter.
