This next batch was kind of impromptu.

I wan hanging out with another local photo guru and he was doing some shots of my car, but he had a nice legacy so I took some shots of his while he was taking shots of mine. These weren't composed or planned at all, just shot where he parked up.

Mostly I just wanted to practice taking more photos.

Default The DSLR Camera/Car Combo Thread: Part 2

Hmm donít want to tear you apart because youíre out there trying.

You are correct on the first set - colors are all over the place. Iíd recommend really focusing on some good tutorials on youtube. Moe Zainal, Damian plisko, etc are very good. Study how the lighting is done. Clean up streaks in PS. Cloning is pretty easy. Look at what they did right and ask yourself how you could have done better.

The second set is just a few snapshots. Garbage backgrounds with no real composition. Always keep your background in mind when shooting. Donít shoot too tight as well. Use foreground and background elements to draw attention to your subject. Simple or well thought out backgrounds unless youíre completely blowing them out with bokeh.

Tear me apart, itís not fun but it will help me learn (:
Iíll work through the coloring and try to clean up the streaks today and see if any of them turn out better.

Thank you again for the critiques ✌🏻

Im far from a pro so i can't tear you apart, but i really like photo number 3. I thought the dullish background made the car pop. I really liked that photo honestly. Also the fourth photo was good to me as well, i like the sharpness and the lights.

No one needs to be "torn apart" for trying and learning.

My old Alpine White M3 has been replaced by a Lime Rock Grey M3 CS! I've had it for almost two weeks and it sat in my garage almost that whole time. Finally took it out last night and brought my DSLR.

I really didn't do a good job on this. I haven't done any night shots in probably over a year. I forgot to lock the ISO, I did this hand held, and I wasn't even in focus. A big fail, but at least I got a pic of my new car!

Going to go out again soon hopefully and get some night shots. It's definitely more of a challenge shooting this grey car over my old white one.

And I got my buddy's AMC Eagle out for a few minutes too:

Early morning at the gas station:

Unfortunately I had a little camera shake and that one wasn't as sharp as it could have been.

A couple more taken around town on a nice soft-light day:

The first two were on large format (Tachihara field camera), the last three on medium format (Mamiya C220f)

So I shot them in a garage:

Painted over the background in Photoshop, then added some smoke/lighting layers. I believe I used around 12 strobed layers for the car for the front shot.

Here's another one using the same method:

Got a new Daily Driver back in November but never took any pics of it. Today was beautiful so I decided today was the day!
