I'm expecting any day now. Esp. Now that the machine work is done. The original estimate was two to three weeks :/ Then we hit delays. I hate delays... #impatient

Hi I had my PROtuned by a reputable tuner and haven't cracked my casing yet.....well the rod did that for me, but anyway I'm not going back with OEM parts because I simply cannot trust them after a dead motor at 17k miles. I have a parts car with a 25k stock motor that is gonna get the beef. I'd like to hear about some success with forged internals and hotter tunes. Or lack there of

I keep my first two posts updated regularly / as there's anything worth posting. I'm still waiting on my heads, but once I have them, the engine won't take more than a day or two to get reassembled and base-tuned/broken in

I'm subscribed! Been keeping up with this post and I, too have a hole in my block. Motor blew and my car has 16k miles. Got my car towed to Outfront Motorsports this past week. If everything else is good; forged internals would be the route!

Great post man! Lots of great quality pics and info!

Buy Jeremy a drink for me! Haha. I'm dying to get my heads back.. I'll continue to update this thread as things happen. I believe that I'm going to install my oil pressure and afr gauges next weekend. I bought an smy pod.

Good luck with your build! Do you know the failure?

Haha I'll give Jeremy a drink for you! He's really cool and patient. I've been emailing him back and forth with tons of questions before I towed my car; props man!
Nice! I believe I should invest in gauges too haha. I hope you receive your heads this week! No I do not know the true failure of my block. Jeremy told me they took my motor out on Friday but going to tear down and inspect Tuesday!

Definitely subscribed and looking forward to the final result. My motor went with 11K on the clock. Cylinder 4 rod snapped in half and blew a hole in the block. Going with forged internals, stock heads with a stage one port and polish for now.Hoping to get my heads back next week also. Definitely a hell of a process right!? LOL Good luck with your build.

there are more people with blown motors in here than in the failure thread i hope to not join you subbed

edit: I forgot to ask, since many of you are going for "conservative" numbers, has anyone chosen 4032 over 2618 for their pistons? or if it even matters to you?

Just saw it, looks like folks with built blocks are just a port injection kit away from some massive power!

Definitely an interesting development for our cars. Noticed a peak/falloff on their dyno graph though. Makes you curious why the power can't/doesn't remain flat

Not at all surprised. DI is a severe limitation as far as power goes on our cars. It's pretty sweet, but to actually build big, you have to have port injection. You just can't spray enough fuel in with DI.

There are several people that I'm aware of playing with a BRZ head swap onto the DI shortblock. The challenge is fuel control, since our ECU can't handle a dual-system like the BRZ does. The proposed resolutions I've heard of are either swapping in a BRZ ECU, running a hybrid setup (dedicated fuelling computer), or going full-blown aftermarket ECU. The second option seems the most logical to me, but we'll see as time progresses.

From what Clark told me; he used the oem WRX ecu and tuned with just a Cobb accessport. He also said the port injector are good for cars that wants to make more than 400whp on E85. You can make a lot of power on our DI it's just the E85 that suck it all up. That car made 602 on pure E85. If it was on pump gas + meth; it could've made around that same power.

Since I'm on E85; I'd like to go port injection to be on the safe side. But nobody really saying how to install it haha.
