Default Anyone know what motor Subaru Rally Team uses?

This weekend I discovered "Launch Control" on YouTube- Subaru's Rally Team show- it is most addictive, and I confess to much binge watching! :-)

I am curious- it states in multiple places, they're using a "horizontally opposed 2 liter engine" in all of their cars.. They go into detail about the turbo used, restrictor plates, etc. But, not much on the block. Anyone know if it is the FA20 they're using? Is it a Subaru block even?

I know it's not 2.5, so that eliminates the current EJ, but I guess there are 2.0 EJ varients too..

Anyone know any details? They sure sound good!

It's the EJ207. The early ones (2004-2006 or so) were increased to 2.2 until the US teams realized the restrictor didn't work well with the larger displacement (narrows the powerband).

WRC cars used EJ20G blocks with older non-AVCS heads from GC-era EJ207s.
