Default Oil sprayed out the dipstick?

Yesterday I did some hard acceleration. Nothing unusual. This morning I drove to work. And turned the car off when I got there. Then a few mins later pulled it into the garage. (it's - 30c here today so I park inside). When I get inside I notice oil smell. Pop the hood and the engine is covered in oil. Dipstick popped up slightly. I assume it came from there but I'm not sure. This happen to anyone else? I tried searching but couldn't find much of anything

Sounds like either a ring issue at boost or a PCV issue in general. There should be "almost no" crankcase pressure in general. Crankcase pressure will pop the dipstick and spew oil.

A compression test may state an issue, a leakdown is much better. This requires time and tools, I have no clue if you have either.
Checking PCV requires time and basic tools, sorta easy to check.

How many miles on engine?
What, if any, mods?
Are you going through oil? How much in what distance (quarts/miles or metric equivalent). Time means crap (I go through x amount/week), distance and quantity means everything.

125000km on engine. Zero mods. I haven't added oil to it at all. To be fair I have only driven it like 3k km but used no oil

It only did this once though. I drive the car home (about 50km) and it was fine. I replaced the oring on the dipstick. If the rings were bad, would this not be a constant problem? I have a pcv valve for a 2002 wrx and I'll see if it fits. But haven't had a chance to change it out yet.
What car do you have?

Oh should clarify too that the dipstick blew out and sprayed oil when I started the engine and moved the car about 20 feet into a garage. It didn't(and still doesn't) blow the dipstick out during normal or spirited driving. Just happened that one time. It was -30c outside, drive 30 mins to work, and shut the car off. Then after about 5 minutes I started it again and moved to garage.
Of course this isn't normal and should be a concern. Just not sure if I should stress about it being a ring issue. I want to change out the pcv valve. I'll report how that looks when I do in the next couple days

I changed the pcv valve. Wasn't too bad. Same pcv valve as a 2002 wrx. The valve didn't seem bad. It still rattled. Of course I changed it anyway. I think maybe car runs better now. Has been several days of driving to work and it hasn't puked oil again. Not sure if there's any interest. But I figured one thing out that the pcv valve fits.
