Maybe it has become a waste of time to argue with your childish forum attitude.

You say in almost every post the car was tuned "marginal" at best. Please read up on EFI tuning before you continue to post so I can get technical, if not its a waste of my time to prove you wrong.

2 weeks after my install my subie died while driving down the road. I called SBR in hopes that they would have some input. Noone was available to assist. My mechanic figured out what the problem was...it was the brand new fuel pump that SBR installed. So, after ordering another fuel pump from SBR at my own expense my mechanic installed the new pump and the car is now running again. So, I sent the old fuel pump back to SBR for a refund. Mike Huml claims that the pump is fine and he would just send it back to me and be done with it.
Mike---if it wasn't the pump, it was the install. Because you didn't install the pump correctly I was forced to get my car towed to a mechanic who then charged me to diagnose and fix the problem. Now you want to send me the old pump and be done with it? You are an a55 clown to the extreme.
Nate---if I wanted to read up on EFI tuning I wouldn't risk taking my car to a bunch of a55 clowns in the first place. If you honestly feel like that was a good tune then you have other issues. You were a nice guy and easy to work with while you were tinkering with my car, but you need some practice at tuning and working on subarus. Do you remember when you first handed over the keys to me?

Regardless of how bad a customer situation gets, I don't think something like this is ever appropriate.

Well this wasn't the kind of information I was hoping to find to help me decide between the SBR or FP 16G

Default Detuning of SBR 16g

In February I took my 03 wrx to SBR to have them install and tune a 16g with supporting mods. Since then I have had problems with everything on my car that they touched, and possibly some problems with things they didn't touch. Because I was scared of the tune I decided to go to P & L and have them give me a tune. So last night my suby was on the dyno at P & L. First they installed some supporting mods that should have accompanied the original install by SBR... GM boost solenoid, new plugs with the appropriate gap, and a shorty intake. After about an hour on the dyno it became apparent that my car wasn't making the horsepower that it should. It kept pulling timing on anything over 16psi. So they took it off of the dyno and began to give me the bad news.

My map from SBR was damaging my engine, so much so that it was the belief from people at P & L that I may have lost compression (judging from the damage to the old plugs). P & L recommended that I do a compression test and check the timing belt. Then if both of those were fine to take off the turbo and look for damage.

To make matters worse I have already paid around $400 to track my car at Putnam Park this weekend. What are the chances I am going to be able to fix all of this crap before then???

I have informed SBR, again, about the continuing issues with their neglegent tune and install. I am patiently awaiting a response from Mike Huml. It has been my belief in the past that stuff happens. What makes a difference is how the stuff gets taken care of after the fact. I sincerely hope that Mike and SBR back their service and their products... we shall see.

I forgot to add... before the tune by P & L I was at 265 crappy hp, after with a tune safe enough to get me home I was at 245.

BTW, P & L bent over backwards to help me. They were very professional and really knew what they were talking about and how to diagnose different issues. If only I would have taken my car there first!

Did you start a whole new thread to bash SBR again? I understand that you are pissed off, but this is retarded.

keep it in the vendor review section.

What else can I possibly do? Mike has refused to fix anything on my car. Basically he took my money, blew up my engine, and rejects any responsibility. I am not bashing SBR again. I am simply telling a customer service story. Beyond that, there has been lots of talk about SBR turbos on nasioc. While I still haven't determined if it was the turbo or the tune, SBR is going to cost me a lot of money. I'd like nothing more than for SBR to fix the problems that have occured due to the negligent work.

Also, this was started to help me get help from other members on how to fix the issues. I would appreciate it if you would move it back. My feelings on SBR are well documented.

P & L is in Chicago. I think there are tuners closer to you that would do a good job. My car is being compression tested as we speak. If I were you I would stay off boost until I got a better tune. Nate didn't tune your car did he?

My readings from P & L were completely different than the readings that Nate provided. On the graph that Nate gave it showed power coming on peak at around 6000 rpms and the afr starting around 14 and going down to around 11.6. Once I got my car on a real dyno my afr was starting around 17 or 18 and then going down and peak whp was at around 3000 rpms and then just jumped around all over the place after that. I wouldn't trust anything that Nate or SBR gave you. I don't know if there tools are inaccurate or what.

I do know that I checked my compression yesterday and everything looks normal 135-130-135-135. I am guessing that the turbo is messed up somehow. I will be looking in to that today.

Thumbs up slowboy racing

i recently bought a front mount from slowboy racing, and decided to drive up to their shop to get it, do to all the problems i have had with ordering and recieving products from other companies, i figured i would play it safe being the first purchase from slowboy. i drove up and was dissappointed that all the parts to the kit was not there, i was very upset and was ready to cancel my purchase. chris from slowboy was made aware of the problem and drove up to the shop to help out with my situation. I really appreciated him working with me, because he knew how pissed i was, but chris made it right. so i have to give slowboy props for good customer service. thank you chris

a lot of people on here bash slowboy... I have had good and disapointing experiences with them, but with the not so great experiences they have worked with me also to make things acceptable. One thing I can say is that they ship everything in stock out right away. Contact them by phone, sometimes they don't return emails.

Thumbs down

I ordered a TD06 (20G) turbo from JSC Speed, who in turn are waiting for shipment form SlowBoy Racing. SBR was supposted to port & polish it. I ordered it on July27. When I call JSCSpeed, they contact SBR and every week they say it will be at least 7more days, etc. I have an install scheduled this month, have ordered over $12K in engine parts and EVERYTHING has already come in except this turbo, which is the one of the 1st things I ordered. COME ON GUYS! Now my install date is in jeopardy because of the turbo shipment and If I miss the date for my engine rebuild, the next available appointment is in DECEMBER!

Sean,

We apologize for any problems this may have caused you. We are finally getting close to shipping your stuff out, and it will be out in less then a buisness week. The last of the parts have shipped out, and are on their way here. Again, I apologize for the delay, but I can promise you this: As soon as it's all here, we will have it ported and polised SAME DAY, and have it out to you that day.

Chris, if you can do that, it would be GREAT! I just need this one very SOON. I really don't want to go back to the bottom of the install list. Thanks for your help!
