Default Asiana 777 crash at SFO

Not much info yet...

Quote:
Firefighters are at the scene of a plane crash on the runway of San Fransisco International Airport. Thick clouds of black smoke are billowing from the grounded aircraft as people escape on emergency slides.

The plane was a Boeing 777 operated by Asiana Airlines flying in from Taipei. People are reportedly trapped inside the aircraft according to a police scanner.

Looks like people walking around the plane, hopefully they were on it to begin with.

Weird, at 0:07 it looks like the doors are open and the slides are deployed, but black smoke is coming from something on the right side outside of the aircraft interior.

Engine fire caught the composites on the wing on fire?

They said the tail "came off" seconds before landing

Wings look intact. That woudlnt explain the top/forward fuselage to burn.

Looks like it stalled or land REAL hard...hard enough to kill the gear and then it skidded down the runway off to the side.

According to a couple witnesses they saw the plane flip several times before hitting the tarmac. Approx 290 passengers onboard. Hope they're all ok.

Flip which ways? That seems strange considering the overall condition of the plane.

Wow! That is absolutely insane.

It appears that it landed very short, and very hard. The empennage is scattered over the threshold, so I'd guess that it hit there hard, or maybe even hit the sea wall.

Fox News is showing footage, does look as if it hit the sea wall. They are saying the tail came off before it landed, skidded on the runway, and flipped over............ it landed then crashed. They are also saying, (one guy at least) that everyone got off safely.

How scary, hope there are many survivors.

It was reported that the plane hit at an extreme angle where the verticle stabilizers hit first and broke it completely off.
