NASIOC 50-100mph List
What is this?
This post is meant to contain a list of 50-100mph times posted by NASIOC users. The times should be accompanied by basic info about the vehicle (modifications, fuel, weight, etc). A tandard format will be described below to allow for easy comparison. These times can be used as a benchmark for comparing the impact of modifications, acceleration at given power levels, and/or 1/4 mile times. Why 50-100mph? On other forums (namely 6speedonline) the 60-130mph time is used as a benchmark. This range is used instead of 1/4 mile times and speeds because the 1/4 mile is highly dependent on track conditions and launch. 60-130mph is sufficiently fast enough to avoid launch/traction differences in most cases. But, after some consideration it was determined that 60-130mph was not practical for many Subaru's. It was chosen to use the 50-100mph range. This range is fast enough that traction is not an issue on most AWD cars and the top end is not too difficult to reach (similar to a normal road tuning log or trap speed for a near-stock car). This range should not cause issues (due to traction) on most Subaru's, and the top speed is such that it is accessible for even stock cars quite easily. Why not post dyno numbers or 1/4 mile times? We do already have a similar list for "Road Dyno" numbers. This is based on the Airboy spreadsheets and is a valuable resource. This info is still very useful, in fact for many things it is much more useful than 50-100mph times (like looking at powerbands, etc), but it does have a few downfalls. First is that the numbers are highly dependent on user inputs. If you have a highly modified vehicle, this becomes difficult. Even something as simple as entering vehicle weight incorrectly can skew the numbers. The next main issue is that a dyno number doesn't directly correlate to how quick your car is (as compared to someone else's). Making more power doesn't mean your car will accelerate more quickly. Gearing, weight, aerodynamics, etc all come into play. Having an actual time is much easier to compare, and is more of a "real world" result. This also means that a 50-100mph time is something that can be compared across not only different Subaru models, but across other platforms as well (so feel free to post results from other vehicles!). What do I need to do? When you do the run, you can basically do anything you want to get from 50-100mph as fast as possible: use whatever gears you'd like, brake boost, start slower and go WOT through 50mph, etc. As long as you are on a flat surface it is OK. To get on the list, you need some way to confirm the time. The best ways to do this are with a data log, a video of the speedometer, or best yet a VBOX or similar device. Please post one of those things as proof, and then fill out the following information, using the formatting described below. Once all of that is in place, I will update your time onto the master list. What is the format? Two sets of info need to be posted. The first is a single line for use in the overall list. The second is a summary of your modifications that will stay in your post and people can review. Here is the format for the single line of info. You can use the code tags if you want, otherwise just enter the data in a line and I can do the formatting when I update the list. Please write "NA" if you don't have that piece of info. For induction, please list what turbo you are using. (Code tags purposely broken to make it easier to copy/paste.) [code]Username Year Make Model HP TQ 50-100 1/4 ET 1/4MPH Lbs L Cyl Induction Boost Fuel[code] Here's an example: [code]xluben 2011 Subaru WRX 462 492 4.5 NA NA 3400 2.5 F4 20G XTR [code] And this is the format for the summary of modifications on the car: Vehicle: Motor: Turbo: Boost: Transmission: Redline: Upgrades:
