If it had an IRS I'd agree. I'll still test drive it...still sounds awesome.

Its great to see the USDM finally embrace a proper hot hatch market, only took creeping gas prices to knock dome sense in the auto companies

Great surprise to find the new Fiesta ST will come with nearly 200hp from the factory in contrast to the 180hp that was expected. 34mpg highway isn't bad either! Now just waiting for pricing. I sure hope it comes in a fair bit below the $23,700 Focus ST.

I didn't see anyone point out this line which seems to be a big deal to many of you...

"Available exclusively as a five-door hatchback in North America and with a six-speed manual transmission, Fiesta ST is projected to achieve up to 34 mpg."

Yeah, we saw that. At least I did. But maybe in another year or so a 2d will emerge.

I also am glad to see folks finally realizing a 6000lb jacked up station wagon that gets 10mpg really ISN'T cool afterall!
I have always driven small hatches and sedans, even when gas was 89 cents per gallon. To me, small cars have always been more fun.

Pfbfbfbfb not any more. with 197 hp in that little thing? Who cares about doors?! I'm stoked we are getting it period. Ford is a good listener, they will probably bring it out later. This will be replacing my Kia. By the time they iron the little kinks out I'll be done with the Soul.

Alright, let's begin the performance speculations. I'm gonna go with 0-60 (largely a useless metric, but a selling point nonetheless) in roughly 6.5, and the 1/4 in roughly 14.5.

Everybody keeps talking about the HP, but look at the tq figures, 215 lb -ft. This thing may actually spur a revolution in small competent cars. Let the Wild Rumpus Start!

This thing makes my stock WRX cry. LoL. Only a difference of 2 lb -ft. Its amazing how far cars have come in nine years.

straight line? yea... but if you're any sort of decent driver you'd rather it have rwd for the corners. I'd rather the ass end kick out than the front end.

If our mini was rwd it would be so much more fun!

I wish this thing had been at dealerships this summer. 197hp and 215 ft/lbs in a 2700lb, four door hatch, with 6-speed manual, and 34mg.......I would have been first in line. Well done Ford.

This will be a fun car. Ford, please keep the price reasonable.

Form over function? What is functional and practical for you is useless for me. I don't need a backseat, therefore your functionality and practicality is wasted on me. The functionality and practicality for me is having a larger, open space in a small car for stuff during everyday use.

I am not saying that they shouldn't have a 5 door for those who want it. Hell, they make 4 door M3s!

According to some individuals at fordstnation.com who are at the show with a media pass:

"Prices and other details about the Fiesta ST will be out in January (And it sounded like mid January)
Rather than trim levels Ford will be offering options A la Carté.
Base model will have MFT and there will be NO HIDs "

Looks like we'll find out pricing at the Detroit Auto Show.

What I find more important in the report is that options will be a la carte. IMO if this is true I'll be very happy. I would definitely want recaros but don't want/need any of the other bells and whistles. Base + Recaros please..
