Default Vaccuum leak or something else?

So I installed my turbo inlet today, and now when I turn the motor off, and when I start it up it shakes kinda violently and makes a weird rumble sound. I'm thinking I have some air leak somewhere, the clamps on the OEM part didnt fit on the new inlet so I dont have any on there. I reset the ECU when I was done, no CEL yet, car runs good, pulls hard and makes boost fine. Would a pre turbo, post MAF leak cause the engine to do this? Im sure I got all the hoses on the inlet, they cant really fit the wrong way and I labeled them before I started. Do I need to get some bigger clamps or what?

a vacuum leak will make you idle rough, did you get all those hoses connected well to the turbo inlet? pcv and the like?

I took a short highway trip and when I exited the idle started acting up. The tee that was on the inlet at the back didn't fit in the little OEM fitting. I don't think it was the PCV, it had an electrical connection. I had to heat up the OEM plastic part to fit the inlet tee into it. I think thats the IAC, which would defiantly make the idle no good. Do I have to buy a new one of those too, along with the clamps?

I did a long write up with part numbers and places where I bought them to fix the "T", I know exactly what you are talking about. The Perrin TI I got either had and extra nipple, or was minus a nipple ( too long ago), but I solved it. Scooby mods dot com, with pics under the Perrin TI install.

So I'm not nuts! Would having this a little bit jury rigged like I did create a vaccum leak and rough idle or do I need to keep looking? Where is your post on Scoobymods, I dug a little and I didnt see it.

I got clamps on the inlet hose and got an elbow for the PCV valve and the idle feels a lot better. It still shakes at idle sometimes, and when I start the motor up and shut it off it still makes a knocking sound and shakes, but not as bad as before. Do I still have a leak somewhere? How long do I give the ECU time to learn? Once I get moving the car is fine, boost seems to come on a little sooner and the turbo is definantly louder. How do I check for a leak in the hose? Does the propane torch trick work for something like this? Any advice is appriciated.

Dru,
Sorry I posted it at club wrx. Here is the link from this site. Inside it you will find the link to club wrx and my pics and how to.

Posted both threads up here for you. On the club WRX thread go to the last page, you will find my write up.

Hopefully this all helps you, I have had no problems with my car. You may still have a leak, check around the inlet pipe real good, ensure it is seated all the way around the turbo.
Let me know how everything works out.
