Default BIG problems... check my logs..

Well it's only november and it looks like I'm really going to have to turn down boost as i'm maxing my injectors VERY easily now
However it seems like I won't be able to as I'll just creep back up...
I'm running around 15psi at redline and my injectors are just maxed right out...

Isn't this stock boost levels?
how can this be safe with canadian winters... these logs were taken in -8 degree celcius... in Far. that's about 10 degrees i think.

Here are 3 logs...

5th gear pull... EGT's were nearing 900 (about 890 or so) so I backed off before 7000
Also my winter tires were starting to make a pretty loud noise, lol...
I'm very glad I did too... my injectors were static forever

I'm going to try and pull 50 more points from my boost map and hope boost will drop... but I have a feeling it won't

Would adding just a fuel pump win me back some IDC's?

I think the only real problem here is fueling... running 11psi isn't possible due to creep and is just unreasonably low IMHO.

Also boost creep or no?
based on my boost map values.

Holy cow, you're pulling a LOT of voltage! I wish it got that cold here. It was 87F here today.

I'm amazed that you're maxing your injectors at 4.xK rpms! wow. I wonder what your AFR is, perhaps you have more room if you're running overly rich.

yeah, car is FAST!!!
but no fun when you're worrying about if the engine is going to go boom.

When I dyno'd it this summer... all A/F's were between 11.1:1 and 10.8:1

The crazy thing is that the above wasn't even on that cold of a day... once we get into december and january I don't know what I'll do.
My boost numbers aren't obscene either... infact already lower than what I run in the summer without maxing my injectors.
I expect to hit 4.7's, lol.

Yea I started maxing mine out at 15-16 psi when the temp dropped to about 50* F here - w/ a walbro... Granted I was running pretty rich w/ the tXs stage 0 sti map at 10.4:1 range...

PE 850s took me back down to a reasonable mid 50% idcs tho so problem solved

You'd be able to gain some headroom on the injectors if you lean it out and run less timing. Also, looks to me like your boost is all over the place.

bump up fuel pressure.

one bar extra got me -10 on the IDCs.

Do you think just changing the fuel pump will help?
I've heard rumours of this... in theory it shouldn't... but I've heard that pressure starts to fall near 100% IDC since the stock pump can't keep up.
I just think that changing injectors and having to retune etc. is crazy with a stock turbo.
Bah well guess i'll have to go 20g sooner than expected :P

To see a difference worth it you need to bump the pressure. It might be a valid idea to try with just a pump...I'd be very interested in the results. Do you have a wideband?

I don't know if this makes you feel any better but I think what you are experiencing is the norm. (at least from the "stage 2" sti's ive seen)

I maxed out the injectors on the stock map. Even after heavy fuel tunning and bringing the AFR's into the mid 11's I still maxed out my injectors when I had a vf39. What made me less concerned about it was reading a bunch of threads on iwsti from Subaru of Gwinnett about his experiences and seeing the STI running reliably at 105%, 106%, etc.. duty cycle. The Utec stops reporting duty cycles at 100% and just report ---.--. Does that mean that it can't push anymore fuel? Well, I just don't know for a fact if that is the case but to me is seems like it can.

I maxed out my injectors for nearly a year with very similar logs. (maybe not as early as you)...

here is a sample:

Yeah, i've heard rumours that the ECU reports static at actual 95% IDC's... since in their opinion anything above 95% is too dangerous I guess... this was based on someone who was able to tune more fuel in even when IDC's were over 100%.
Also in the summer when they'd go static I didn't have a problem A/F's would stay decently in check when I had the WB installed as would EGT and knock.
Now that it's cold however I'm for sure running lean EGT's shoot up above 5750 close to 900c and I've seen the CEL flash closer to 6500 a couple times.
I've tried pulling boost but I just can't get under 15.5psi or so above 5500rpm-7000rpm... creeping I guess.
If I had the fuel it wouldnt be a problem... infact it would be alot of fun

However I'm hesitant of running a AFPR... as i'll have to retune my entire map and will probably still be maxing my injectors (although at richer AFR) and maxing injectors at a higher than stock fuel pressure spells injector failure to me. If anything I'll go new injectors, some decently priced ones are now out for the STi, then I'll have to get a new turbo at some point since i'll have all supporting mods
I need something to tune for again, lol... I enjoy tuning this car "almost" as much as driving it.

Also Aaron I follow your posts alot on wrxhackers, I noticed that you bought a SZ55 turbo, congrats... I'm sure you're having a blast with it, lol.
Maybe I misread your post but did you have a 20g before?
If so is it for sale, I'm in the market for one after all the above, lol.

Any suggestions on my map until I perform fueling mods or turbo port or upgrade?

Maybe it's because I have .5L less displacement.

What are you using to log? I've heard of somebody hitting 113% IDC with the Tari logger on an STi. I guess 100% isn't static with the Tari.

Well i'm definately going lean based on my EGT's... also considering i'm static from 4750 on up, i'm sure my IDC's are actually more like 115%-120% since boost is staying the same right up to redline.

I'm using utec logger 4

Impossible. Why? The ECU doesn't report "static" it only reports injector pulse width and IDC is a calculation of the pulse width at a certain RPM. The static rating shown by the UTEC (ie "---.-") is only a calculation and any program that reports static is simply in the opinion of that program and only that program.
