Default Help!!! Where to change oil if you live in an apartment

Hey all,
In the next month or so, I am going to be moving into an apartment in a semi-urban neighborhood. It just occured to me that I will not be able to change my oil in the parking garage. Where do you city dwellers go if you want to change your own oil? I refuse to take it to a quick lube place and the dealer is a little too expensive. Any suggestions? I have friends who own houses, but I would feel bad to ask if I can use their driveway to change my oil, in the case that I spill some.

Ask the apartment manager if there is some place you can go. He/she may already be letting someone else do it in a corner or something.

Otherwise, I'd just hit up your friends and don't spill.

Bring beer and kitty litter, and don't feel bad.

Most apartment buildings will not permit any type of vehicle maintenance anywhere on their property including the parking lots or garages.
Fortunately changing oil on these cars is very simple and if you're careful any spillage can be kept to a minimum. Get an oil-absorbent mat to place under the car when you work on it at someone's house, and bring the aformentioned kitty litter or speedi-dry.

If you install a Fumoto valve, it gets cleaner, too.

I don't like quickie lube places, cause they never carry Castrol, so I bring my own stuff to them and they do it for like 5 bucks, i've paid as much as $7.
I do know exactly how much oil they put in that way too.

Check the yellow pages for DIY garages. Lift rental is usually by the hour and pretty cheap. If not, go to your local forum and say hello. Many of us in VA Beach get together just to have maintenance days at someone's garage. Meet locals, look at others' Subarus, and do maintenance. It's win/win/win!
