Your money is going to the fact that there are no 'official' importers of Advan wheels in the US.

If you look at japanese sites, the same RCII wheels that people pay close to $500/wheel for here, sell for around $375/wheel there...where as Volk wheels sell for about the same here (a little more) as they do there (whith the exception of the CE28N, which everone jacks up the price for here for some reason) b/c they have Mackin Industries as an official importer.

That's my guess anyways.

Default ADVAN RIM LOWDOWN

Advans are cast. They are made for Yokohama by ENKEI Japan. Yes, Enkei. Although they are still great rims. Volk is more expensive because they are cold forged. CE28N's are only 13.5 pounds in 17 inch form. Thats why they are pricey. I have a set of CE28N's and I love them. I do like the rarity of ADVAN's though. I heard a rumor just this week that Yokohama USA is getting the License to import Advan wheels officially. Just a rumor though as far as I know. Both companies make great rims and are leaps and bounds ahead of most other wheel companies out there.

Turbo Tin Can:
I take exception to your comment about the SSR's. I have had many compliments on mine. They are forged, and very light at 12.9 pounds/wheel for the 17x7.5" size. AND they are very easy to keep clean.
