Vishnu Stage 1 vs. TXS Stage 3
I am so geeked. I've recently gone through some modification changes in the past couple month. I was running a "hybrid" if you will TXS Stage 3 kit for a couple months. I had PDE uppipe, MRT Turboback, UTEC, and TXS TMIC. I was pretty pleased with it. However I was not always 100% satisified. Some areas were hard to eliminate knock, others I couldn't find all the power I wanted. Tired of tuning and eager to try out the new ECUTEK technology I decided to order a Prodrive Stage 3. Never happened though. Tired of waiting on Dyno figures, responses and the kit itself I called upon Vishnu.
In comes the Stage 1. I figured I'd be a little shy of where I was before. Add to that that a set of silicone hoses and I figured I'd be in the ballpark. Wrong. My Vishnu Stage 1 kicks behind over my "hybrid" TXS Stage 3 kit. Granted with the MRT turboback the jury is out on whether I was getting the power I should of but nonetheless I had most of the kit and all I can say is WOW! I don't know if it all has to do with ECUTEK or what but I am blown away on the amount of power I am getting out of this puppy We had a heck of a storm tonight and I went out for a ride. I had to be very careful in first taking off from a stop while turning. One time I got pretty squirly. Three thumbs up. Two from me and one from da monkey!

How is it easier work with, you can't even reprogram it yourself so there is no work to be done, which form your "Done with UTEC" posts is what you wanted. I just still think that it is funny that you basically live next to TurboXS who makes the UTEC but never went there for help.

tell me .. do u think u need to "dyno tune" a stock wrx with turboback exhaust? I just think the reflash is a easier route. As i said, if i ever go into more power. ie... turbo, intercooler upgrades, and so on.. i will put my money back on utec and back to turboxs for the tune.. but till then, there in my mind is no REAL reason to pay that kind of money for a dynotune on a stock car with exhaust.

Actually I think that if you have the funds and want the most out of your mods the only way to do it is to have a dyno tunned, and that goes for whether you have an AccessECU, ECUTek, UTEC. Every car is different and an off the self map on any of the systems will never be as good as a custom tunned map. Not saying an off the shelf map can give you good power but it will never give you the most out of what you got. So it comes down to what you want and what you are happy with.
BTW I am by no means knocking the AccessECU and ECUTek products. They are good products aimed at a certain market segment, mainly those who want more out of the car and don't have the tools, knowledge or desire to tune the car themselves. Last edited by roybfr; 05-13-2003 at 12:35 PM. |
