Default Like sand through the hourglass... These are the dollars I've spent on my car.

This is solid proof that mod money disapears quickly when you're not really paying attention. I put this file together a few weeks ago to count up all the money I spent on my car for mods. Not maintinance/service/gas/insurance.... just mods. I figured I'd share it just for fun... I've had my car almost 2 years now, but most of these were made in the past 9 months.

I'd consider my car a pretty plain-jane Impreza. There's probably 500 cars on the board with more/better mods. I'd hate to see how much they spent!

I'm done with my car anyway. I'd like to get some seats someday... but I have a feeling this car will be replaced and turned into a racecar in the not too distant future.

Here's the file: carmoney.xls (That's Microsoft Excel for the 3 people on Earth who don't recognize .xls)

Rock on,
Scott French

Interesting... I see some spots where you could have saved money if you wanted.

Ive spent just a little relativly on my car so far :

$20 for Armrest upgrade
$30 for WRX wagon sway bar
$20 for custom-welded shortshifter (got a spare one FREE)
$10 for custom made ghetto grill (thanks scott!)
$20 on clear bumper lights (thanks rich!)
$15 for IMPREZA badge
$25 for custom Licence I-club frame
$48 for front strut bar (generic)
$45 for rear strut bar (generic)
$10 for products to remove my pin stripe (still partiall there tho)
$50 for head unit install (previously purchased unit)
FREE RS muffler (free install too, thanks mike!)
FREE WRX shift knob (thanks ken!)
FREE silencer removal (Thanks bill!)
FREE K+N filter (Thanks again bill! )
Total: $293

I still dont have the sway bar installed tho, cause I have to get the mounts and control arms...

The thing that hurt me the most, and actually fits under the "maintinence" cadigory, was my $1200 tranny rebuilt to fix first and second gear

All this, and my #1 priority since I got the car was to get wheels! (WRX wheels + stock tires for $400 is my plan, to keep it as cheap as I can afford it ) I could use an RS suspension too, and some RS sideskirts... I wish I had as much money as any of you guys to spend on my car! :monkey:

Prices have come down a little itty bit on most of the stuff since I bought it. I did my best to find the best deals with reputible companies. (I made one mistake on that "reputible company" thing and I am still dealing with it...). Also, lots of those prices include shipping/tax. I did save a few bucks on the OZs/Tires. SO2s (if you can find them) have come down a lot since the SO3s came out. A few months ago they were expensive! It's too bad they are gone now. Once these tires wear out I'm going to have to find a new model since everything I've heard about the SO3s is bad.

That $150 for the pedals for example, was a bit much (you didnt HAVE to get STi $$$ ones! )

Hey man, you didn't *have* to get that Jeff Stryker box set! There's other quality gay porn for half the cost! Go for the gusto I always say. If it's Jeff Stryker's unique brand of man love you want, it's Jeff Stryker (or "The Strykeman" as I call him) you should get.

Plus the STi pedals are the only pink thing in my car...

Scott French

(Wooo Hooo!!! Do I get a special prize for doing a gay porn post? Or just kicked off the board?)

With this whole turbo setup I have done, wheels, swaybars, stereo, tint etc., I have a little more than that. Yet my 64' Chevelle SS sits there needing a paint job and almost every other little part that I am so willing to buy for my RS. I think my Chevy is getting jealous and I might have to get it running again as an occasional driver. I know exactly waht you are talking about with money dissapearing and the thing that sucks is the re-sale value on everything you buy.

dam that adds up fast! This is the reason why i'm putting off all mods. I'd rather have a stock wrx and a bike than just a fixed up wrx.

Here is the main list of parts for my Sube. There have been a few things since. You can figure it out, parts can add up quickley. I always say I am going to stop in a month but I haven't yet.

So far...

Yeah, that's about right.

Yowch! That looks exactly like my spreadsheet of planned mods before I lost my job two weeks after buying the car! I had planned to go TEC-II and DMS on the WRX.

Ahwell. Cars are better than girlfriends anyway, at least you can sell them when you're done with them.
