Based on the report given by the Officer on scene, and the damage to the car, said driver was driving like a stupid ass.

Sorry that he has passed, but " Be Safe Out There " includes not driving like this person.

Probably removed by responders using a Hurst tool to extricate the occupants.

oh yeah, that makes sense.
I thought for a second it was one of those situations where a sedan hits a ridiculous lifted truck or something and beheads themselves, but it looked so odd with the roof basically intact, just removed.

I hate lifted trucks for that reason, should be illegal. Basically a death sentence for anybody who hits them and is NOT in some idiotic truck raised 3 feet off the ground.

Driver was driving like a stupid ass.
- Speeding, and who knows how fast
- Almost killed his passenger
- Hit a light pole, which is a fairly immoveable object, and still went another 50 ft

Who knows how many others he may have endangered.
I have little respect for anyone who creates a situation like this.

My sympathies go out to his parents and other loved ones

Seems to me this might be beyond just making a dumb mistake.

For months ( ie; pandemic time related ) I have seen a lot of people driving like total dumb-asses.

Lots of incidents where people are getting run down crossing the street in a cross-walk, riding their bicycles, or walking on a sidewalk where the drivers jump the curb and run these people down. Sometimes these people survive, and sometimes they don't.

Just the other day someone dove over a curb, slammed two people into a fence, leaving both in critical condition, one with a chunk of fence sticking out of her chest.

Most of these are hit-and-run.

RIP!!

I was hoping that maybe the "fatal" part was conjecture to get clicks on the video, until I read the description. Sucks to hear. The damage didn't look that catastrophic if you ignore the roof the EMS had to take off.

Obviously speed was a factor and anyone would hate to see the tragic loss of life due to a lapse in judgment. RIP. I wonder what the side impact rating for Subaru STi is. From the looks of the scene, the operator lost control making side impact with the poll coming to final rest on the opposite side of the roadway.
