Default Audi introduces new 1.6 TDI engine on the A3 range

It was recently made public by the German carmaker Audi that they have come up with a new pair of common-rail diesel powerplants that will augment its A3 and A3 Sportback series. The top power-yielding 1.6-liter TDi can provide a maximum of 105hp and a top torque of 230Nm (170lb-ft), and is joined with the latest start/stop and energy recovery technologies of Audi. Equipped with this power unit, the A3 can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 11.4 seconds and attain a ceiling speed of 194km/h with an average diesel fuel consumption of 4.1 liter per 100km. CO2 emissions is rated at 109g/km. The 1.6-liter TDi that powers the A3 also comes with a 90hp variant that is able to propel the car from standstill to 100km/h in 12.9 seconds to reach a maximum speed of 180km/h.

Since this model is not equipped with a start/stop or energy recovery system, the fuel consumption is higher at 4.5 liters/100km and carbon dioxide emissions is rated at 118g/km. Available in Europe, the A3 1.6 TDi comes with a 22,550 Euro price tag for the 90hp version, while the 105hp version costs 23,550 Euros. An additional 900 Euros will be charged for those who would choose the 5-door Sportback model.
