Default 2015+ Trunk swap questions

Hello everyone,
I managed to find someone willing to swap an STI trunk with the wing for my WRX trunk without wing, just the lip.

I have a few questions, to make sure it works out for me in the end.

1. His STI is 2018. Mine is 2019.
Both cars have a backup camera, does swapping the trunk also move the camera with the trunk? or does that come out?
If the camera move with the trunk, is the quality of 2018 camera worse than 2019?

2. Prepping
How can I prep my trunk and get it ready, so that once we meet up, I can just take it off quicker?
Is the torsion bar hard to swap and is it absolutely needed?

Thank you! (Yes, I've search and watch some youtube videos found on here, I just have some extra questions)

I should let another who has actually done the swap answer, but yes, swap the torsion bars as the weight of the trunks is different. If you don't swap, opening and closing force/speed will be affected.

For the camera, I wouldn't worry about differences. I wouldn't expect any changes between those years, but you could look up OEM part numbers to see if they are the same.

Thanks for the reply. Are there any special tools needed to remove the trunk?

Per SOA parts look-up, the trunk torsion-bars are the same 2015-2019, WRX or WRX STI, without a wing, with a small wing, with the big wing.

Per SOA parts look-up, the rear trunk camera is the same from 2017-2019 between all WRX/STI models.

You will need a panel removal tool to pop-up the trunk-cover plastic fasteners, to pop-up the trunk interior side cover plastic fasteners, and to unhook the harness.

You will need a 10mm or 12mm socket (I'm at work and will have to look later) to remove the four trunk hinge bolts.

WOW, thank you SO MUCh for all that information.
So even if my camera goes with the trunk, as long as the other guy's camera is in good condition I'm all set.

Before either of you drive-off, make sure to hook everything up and check first.

also if you have keyless, make sure you have that trunk release button transferred over.

Thank's to @Big-E's super helpful post, the trunk swap was done in less than an hour and it was painless! (Almost).
There's a clip near the bottom right of the trunk that you have to pop out, but it was inserted in such a way that didn't give me a lot of room to un-pop it.

All we did was took off the pop clips, 4 bolts, then the trunk came off.
Didn't have to replace the torsion bar or backup camera or even trunk release mechanism.
