Default New user just order a base 23 wrx

Not new to subaru, but I finally decided to order a wrx. Currently I have a built and boosted brz and will be selling it after I get my base 23 wrx.

I played around with getting a wrx and instead got a golf TDI that got diesel gated. Then thought about getting a wrx again and got my brz. I thought about selling that brz for the last year VA, and boosted it instead. Well I'm finally doing it.

didn't the dieselgate cars actually turn out to be really good deals for the consumers?
like you could trade them in for insane values because of the settlement?

I essentially got a free car for 18 months with the buy back. Also got a few 100$ from the class action iirc. It was a good car. Also probably the only vehicle I have owned that my wife didn't hate.

yeah a friend of mine did that too, sold a used car for same as new price
was there a timeframe you had to take advantage of that?
because I always wondered why not drive it for 5 years or something and sell it back but I assume there must have been a cutoff

There was a deadline to accept it, but they then scheduled the buy back date. You could have taken a one time payment based on when you bought it and the miles put on it if you took it back to get it reflashed. But seeing as mine was straight piped and tuned, I just returned it to stock and sold it back.

Post some pics of your BRZ and the new WRX when you get it.

c38 with high boost pulley on flex fuel on an IAG stage 2 block with 12.5:1 compression. Should make 400whp at 8krpm. I went too race car and cant list all the mods but it is essentially an STX classed brz that is built and boosted.

what color are you going for? and why a base trim '23 wrx, if you don't mind me asking? I bought a base '19 (for no sunroof); however, if I could time travel back 4 years, I would go no lower than a Premium trim, but most likely tell myself to get the '19 Limited WRX or '19 base STI (despite the EJ).

I get that the base trim is not only a good entry level car, but it also doesn't have the stuff that most ppl end up replacing when fully modding. Are your plans to rip out the lowely stock parts (wheels, tires, brakes, suspension, exhaust, etc. etc), and replace with something else...or, were you just going lowest cost WRX because the trims (except the GT) are essentially the same except for some things in the interior.

I learned not buy a base trim Subaru; so I'm curious. If I had to go to the Subaru dealer today to buy a car, it would be either a WRX or BRZ in Limited trim.

WRB obviously But I wanted base trim because 18" wheels are more expensive, I've heard that the 2 smaller screens are leagues better than the big tablet infotainment, and it is cheaper. Sunroofs cut down on rigidity and add to cost. I got the performance pack on my brz and ripped it all off except for the brembos and I kind of regret it from a money standpoint.

Originally I was planning on doing bolt ons with a locking diff in the rear and rallycross and autox it. For the time being I changed my mind and keeping the brz too. So probably keeping it nearly stock until I can add a flex fuel tune. Odds are I'll add foglights and might even swap a driver seats. The cloth are pretty basic and I have a bad hip.

I was thinking similarly; 17s vs 18s; no sunroof...but by going with the base model, I didn't get:
... fogs (added them later with a kit as my car was pre-wired so it was actually really easy)
... heated seats (could use them in OH and my '04 GTI had them)
... inverted shock components
... 7" infotainment screen on Premium/Limited trims (I guess my non-HK 6.5 screen does okay)
...245/40 tires on the 18 in wheels vs the 235/45 on the 17s
...sunroof (my GTI had one, but I only used it to vent and never really opened it)
...leather on limited trim (my GTI had leatherette)
...HID/LED SRH headlight on limited trom
...mirror turns on limited trim
... bigger/better brake parts on Limited trim
... Inteligent drive control (STI only)

I get that we all have different priorities; pros/cons; likes/dislikes. My base 2019 isn't a horrible place to be or a bad car...I just find myself looking to add this and that (see fogs and soon to be mirror turns) to my base as those are things I find useful.

Why every Subaru doesn't come with mirror turns is beyond me. They tout safety, but leave off mirror turns which are really useful for car to the sides of you. Lowly Civic Ex and SI come with mirror turns; or just about every Honda model/trim has mirror turns. OK, enough about mirror turns.

In any case, good luck with your '23 WRX. The nice thing is it will be easy to make you own as there should be plenty of parts to throw on it to tailor it to your likes when you are ready.

Looking at the configurator, a sunroof starts as standard equipment on the Limited. I also hate sunroofs (and power seats) so will always look at trim levels that match what I want.

My son ordered his 2020 STi and like me, dislikes sunroofs and power seats. He bought a base model. Of course, a base STi is built with better materials and features than a same year WRX premium. The STi that year had only base and limited as options.

Picked it up today. Love it even if it drives like a bathtub with wheels. Not driving with a race clutch and having AC is a game changer
