The clearance is the same as our older Fab'd pan.

We do keep getting asked about durability, which was one of my own personal concerns with using cast technology. We use a very specific material and process that is only done here in the USA. Needless to say, it's not cheap, but the quality is outstanding.

In regards to toughness, we have MANY installed on rally cars. Some have some great stories of survival. This pic from last year is one of my favorites. This team went off course in a bad way. The belly-pan pictured here was hit so hard that it pushed the pan (engine) hard enough to tear both motor mount. The pan is still in use today! The engine was spared of oil starvation as you would have normally expected with an impact of this magnitude.

I had to use my killer bee oil pickup as a trailer hitch once... tough.

As always your the engineering of your products is impeccable, well thought out and tested. But my favorite thing about your products has always been that you don't rest on your laurels, you always refine the process and part where you can. Every build I have done since I had first met you has at least 1 if not more of your parts.

This may have been asked before but I don't feel like looking through all the posts. What is we bottom out and it hurts the pan. Won't a cracked pan be hard to weld if not impossible as opposed to just bending the pan back and welding it?

its only as hard to weld as other similar materials...stock pan is steel, the killer b is cast steel...different methods for welding but all fixable

We've actually never once had a cast pan get damaged. At least I've never seen one. The fab pans, I've seen three come back: two from drag cars that threw a rod into the side and deformed/cracked a spot in the side, and another guy who got into a catastrophic accident and a curb damaged the pan.

We weld the pans, fabricated and cast. They both weld very nicely.

Just an FYI, our cast pan is aluminum. Each is also heat treated twice to attain T6 to maximize strength and toughness. No one else does this (likely because of the cost it adds), but it does make for a lighter and stronger part.

my apologies! you are correct that is a lot of extra cost, but you putting that into your product helps keep us guys using you as the go to! Hey as random thought, have you thought about putting together a dry sump kit? you have a lot of other high end stuff and this would be great to come from you...from my perspective at least!

We've consulted with teams to spec out DS systems, but the 'requirement' for DS is extremely low, thanks to some of our products actually.

Our pan on its own is good to ~1.6Gs. Anything over that tended to be problematic due to oil surge out the heads causing the oil available in the sump to be reduced. Our Oil Control Valve that was released a few years ago addressed that issue, which generally allow ~1.8Gs sustained. That's pretty much open class T/A territory. I welcome logged telemetry above that, but have yet to see it be produced. A couple have claimed to, but no logs So between you and me, we do have a new pan and pickup coming out for the top 1%-ers. It addresses high crankcase pressures and oil surge up the back of the crankcase during extreme launch/gear changes at 800+hp, improved oil control to the pickup, and the highest flowing oil pickup ever (yes we did test them all).

But in short, we spec out DS systems per application. The few instances we have, it has really been required; Circle/oval track, and Aerobatic Aviation applications. For anything else, there's just no need for the complexity, maintenance, and cost.

I think we all at one point or another get caught up in that mindset.

Worse we see too often, 'I saw this setup on a racecar (of course built for a very specific single use) and need it on my street car because I'm making 500whp'. That's almost always NOT why to pick a component or setup.

Hello! i see some people having problems with leaking oil thru the oil pan dipstick tube? and having to put rtv sealant on the hole? is this because of user install error? or there are new O rings provided to change the stock one and makes it feel “ tight” when the dipstick tube is inserted on the oil pan?

also, is it really necessary to take off the airpump and dipstick bracket? or i dont need to?

just curious seen some post on other forums.

I have heard, but haven't seen personally. We've never had a leak here, but I have a theory.

I believe when there have been issues, it has been with the OEM o-rings being re-used, new OEM o-rings were used, or dipstick tube was damaged during removal. If you use the OEM o-rings, they can bind, twist, and even fold when the tube is inserted into the pan. This can cause a slow-to-fast leak. Using our supplied o-rings, the unit should not leak.

I don't believe the air pump needs to be removed to reach the dipstick tube mount, but a socket extension to reach the bolt is needed.

i was one with the same issue, took several tries till i got the following to work...put new rings and as much RTV as i could between the two rings and then squirted some in the tube w/dipstick settled and so far so good...not sure where issue is as fit seems similar to OEM and did not have leaks with OE pan

Did you put the o-rings in dry? When dry they can roll out of the groove. They need some lube so they stay put.

Both traditional and Super-G pans in stock!

FYI...

Killer B pans hold 1/2 quart more oil than any other cast pans out there :P

What's the application? Maybe I can help narrow down the choice.
