On my way to a meeting. I will edit this with response and answers this evening.
I vouch for most of the first half of her post.... Quote:
so for the vegas event ( and only time i really went wot through all gears ). I did three runs like she said because i missed tnt the day before. First run i didnt know was a protree ( newb shoulda done a recon ). Terrible launch. finally built boost ran a 12.4 @ i believe was 23lbs. Asked keith wat was up, he said elevation etc etc. i agreed. turned boost up. He said tune was done with enough room for error and it was safe. cool do it! second run. great r/t bogged the crap out of her ( new nt05's 275 width im not used to ) and didnt realize i needed to build boost longer with the l/c to get the launch i needed. ran the 1/4 with about the same boost if not a 1lbs higher. ran slower time checked oil now and it was low. maybe a 1/2 qt? turned boost up as last adjustment had no effect. verified with keith. got the ok. cool do it! 3rd run. great r/t. great launch. thought i spun tire. keith thinks i hit fuel cut. i hit over 30lbs. my defi goes to 2bar and it was pegged. drove back from the track to hotel, noticed it was acting weird, oil press jumpy. thought hot oil? i monitored. oil level full. everything seemed healthy enough. Got her home parked her and changed oil. tons of gold shimmer. test drive showed no ill effect. i was scheduled already for a dyno day 2 hrs away. reasons were for fine boost adjustments with other monitoring tools in a controlled atmosphere. on the way there i noticed oil pressure drop. like oh **** where it go! stopped to get snacks and check. idle oil press was at 23psi? and on rev would not go more than 30psi ( i believe). at this point I am closer to the shop than home, so I chose to go to the shop where there is better tools. i actually strapped it to the dyno. I made it clear of pending problems. As soon as the throttle was touched and gauges read there were problems I stopped and took her off the dyno. It was on till maybe 3500 rpm not even at wot. Went to another shop more Subaru friendly and hooked up analogs. Verified 23psi-not just a bad defi gauge. Drained oil. Now this is a week later? With maybe 200 miles since that last change, shimmer by the handful. Keith and Mary told me to watch the vid of will and I racing. "Look for a poof of smoke, that is fuel cut." I saw no poof. Mary post video for another opinion? The turbo has play. Almost touching the housing. i had the filter off shortly before this fiasco and it had no noticeable play. I had just put pictures up of the turbo when i did this also, so thats kinda proof i had just checked. about all the previous mishaps ie axles etc. I didnt say anything to AWD because why would i? they screwed it all up from the get go. They are not helping now, why would they for that stuff? They did try to send me to English Racing. Mary was cool about that. She always is trying to diffuse things. ER said they would help but obviously could not garuntee anything as problem is unknown. HERE IS THE DEAL. I get it. I am not a baller anymore. I cannot front the money to take the motor apart so i can see what happend. AWD is not going to pay because they do not know if it is their fault or not. I did notice it loosing power over the last month. I thought it was me getting used to it. I have a ethanol content analyzer-car never saw less than e74 which keith said was totaly fine.

The issue is not going to get resolved. even if it did i would still post all this up the same. a review is a review. Doesnt matter how the fix or not fix a mistake. I told everyone it would tell the story good or bad. |

I vouch for AWDTUNING 100%. Since day one of working with them, they have been nothing but knowledgeable and professional. As a mechanical and very knowledgeable Subaru owner/builder myself, I do a lot of business with them and have never had a problem with any of their motors. I have installed three this year! I run the stage three block in my 2005 sti and HAVEN'T used a drop of oil since I installed it 5 months ago. Call them for the best customer service and the fastest shipping! They're the only place you can call at 8 or 9pm and they'll help you out all they can! TK AUTO WORKS

That's kinda weird as people are always posting on the fb page asking someone to answer the phone. Also 5 months isn't anything, and I was saying the same as you. Until it all went bad. Awoodsti and three others ( don't remember the names) all said just wait till 10k miles. They were right.
And I didn't use a drop either till this recently. Vouch all u want. This happens. It's happened before. More than a few times. And in my eyes, 1 time is too many when your a shop claiming it as a profession. |

What are you waiting on me to respond to?
I said what I needed to say and I asked what I wanted to know. There are no hard feelings over here. Jeramy knows that our offer to help is still on the table. I have my opinions on what I would do if it were my car but that's just me. If we can help we will help. If we can't help we wish him the best. This is not a popcorn situation in my opinion. |

The offer is to send my car to Texas. Ie for me to spend 1000 shipping ea way. And then I would still have to pay parts on top of that. That's an offer u know doesn't make sense. Why not split the bill w English? Even though most shops I have talked to since say they would so it free. Kinda like a reputation thing / pride.
Whatever. Your right there's no hard feelings. I am just not going to hide all the things I know about everything (and I know a decent amount old and new). In the end it probably won't matter because you will still get customers..... Good luck AWD. Been a unpleasant road. |

Not taking sides here or anything but how long is a 600hp motor supposed to last in a car that is being raced? I have had several turbo charged "built" import motors that I would have killed to see 10k miles out of. With that being said yes keith has tuned my car a few times before and Will has helped me with info and racing tips. I do not consider myself a loyal customer but more of an on the fence kinda guy. I really like Ams and the work they do but I would not expect them to pay shipping for my car to go back to them for warrantee or any other work for that matter. I live a 1000 miles from ams and that does effect my decision on who will build my motor. I understand and have the upmost respect that you are in the Army and would like to thank you for your service to this country but you knew signing up for the armed forces you would be moved all over. Awd is growing and has had bumps in the road just like everybody in this business. I really think you should reconsider your position and give Awd the chance to make this right.

Excuse my verbage/grammar. iphone post
I barely drove the car and only time it was faxed like that was he three 1/4 mile runs. And it wasn't 600. It was closer to 5z. And ofcourse they are not going to pay to ship it back, done expect them to. I already said he blame cannot be pointed there wat till it gets taken apart. But the three shops I have talked to all say it was the build. One fuel cut incident could do it but mostly likely wouldn't. 10000miles is not much man. There are 600+ cars with three times the mileage and beat on way more. I appreciate the thnx for my service. No biggy. Honestly though its not about me, wat I have done, or wat I deserve besides what I paid for. Forget a out the build for a second. Lets talk about all the parts I am still missing. Or the fact that I would've received the car with a sub par tune u too I had to fly to Texas to drive it(thank god I did) and ask to fix the tune. I don't car how large the build is. 30k$ deserves a good tune and I should t have to ask. I don't know wat the right answer is but I haven't heard from them since the lame attempt of making me pay another shop to fix and masking it as a book up. Keep the hook up all together and fix the damn thing. Go read the whole review. It is t JUST on the car, but my experience aswell. And like I said, there is more but I'm saving the rest so I can spread out my wrath. Probably won matter but it makes me feel better Last edited by stiser; 06-29-2013 at 03:45 PM. |

Wow 30k dollars. I thought I was on the Gtr forum for a second. You wrapped 30k in your motor build? Sounds like it should have been a sick setup! When are you going to have your motor torn down? It sounds like a learning experience for everybody on this board no matter if its a build issue, mileage issue, driving style issue, or just a flat out act of God. Please let us know what happened and please don't rely on the " 3 shops" opinions before the motor is even torn down. I called 4 of the most respected shops in this industry and 4 out of 4 were wrong about my latest motor problems. I have turned a few wrenches in my life and the Subaru motor is by far the most difficult to build and tune. Good luck to you and our thoughts will be with all of the armed forces as they work so hard to protect our freedoms that make it possible to even have these conversations.

Both of these posts are very good words of thought...I too had issues with AWDTuning in the past, but I will say that both of these posts are accurate. |

After spending $30,000 on any build, it should be perfect. I do completely agree however that you shouldn't trust ANYONE'S opinion till the motor is torn down and you have some difinitive idea of what actually happened. |

Thats the reason why i have not said said whos fault it is, But just said what happened. being that i never even got the clearances from these guys who knows if they even check them, and i did ask for them. They tell me i dont need them. Really?
Also PLEASE remember this is a review not just on the car that is sitting in my garage broke, but of the whole experience. Example: all my missing parts ebcs, coil wrenches, my radiator, etc |

Anyone get a built motor from AWD in the last year? I am about to have them put in a built AWD stage 2.5 block and want to see how the have held up.
