Depending on power level the 5 speed gearing can be better for drag, but not always. The 07+ 6MT ratios will do about 140MPH in 4th at 9k, so they can still be good even on a pretty quick car. I do not agree that a built 5 speed is necessarily stronger, in fact I would argue that the 6MT is probably more robust. |

I have had a build 5 speed and now have a 07 US 6 speed. I can tell you that the 6 speed is far more usable on the street with closer gear ratios, ESPECIALLY on the 2.0! I can shift as hard as I want, and not have to worry about anything, and I am in the the sweet spot a lot more!
When you do a 6 speed swap, you also get a much better front and center diff, not to mention DCDD, which makes the car handle better in every which way. |

I believe the problem with the 5MT was the casing. It flexes which causes things to move internally which causes broken gears and such. I LOVE my 6MT but it's extremely heavy like my 4EAT was. My next upgrade along with a clutch will be a stage 4 SD clutch setup. may also consider the HD version as well. I wanted to do a lightened flywheel as well but this takes care of both one shot!

Most folks blow gears powershifting and sidestepping the clutch. And you can avoid most of this by just using a lightened flywheel and taking the inertia out of the mix. I shelved my original 5 speed after 260,000 miles because the center diff failed. Auto-x Road Course I would definitely go with the 6 speed... lightened flywheel and a solid clutch surface. Do not do a puck clutch for non drag strip use, its just not necessary. Buddy who was the lead tech over at Andrewetech had the straight cut dog, and he abused the living crap out of it and it was fine... well fine until we welded up his center diff and made him a RWD drift car lol. But if you really want the in's and outs there is only 1 place to ask. Call Andrewtech and talk to Sam. |

Truthfully, you could probably make those. Get a small amount of .010" thickness adhesive back carbon sheeting for like $5, and just cut to fit with scissors.

all in the works. i think my plan is to put in it as awd, have some fun on track and what not. take advantage of awd. then save up, fit a well built r-180 or buy my buddy's cusco r200 2way lsd rear diff and then do my rwd conversion. |

Buy the Cusco center diff for RWD too? Less rotational mass and weight

ok. so back to the 06/07 wagon side skirts. This works and fits correctly?
That looks PERFECT. By far the best I have seen in that pic. Do you have more?? Just to confirm, those are off the WRX WAGON 06/07) I think STi sideskirts really make the car look nicer, but this is just as good! Last edited by JASWRX; 10-18-2013 at 01:03 AM. |

The skirts aren't a direct swap to the bugeyes, they require some modification.
There is a little dog leg that extends upwards behind the front wheels that has to be trimmed. Never done it, but I've seriously considered it! Lol It's a good look, not as aggressive as the sti skirts. |

It is a good look, but I don't want to fuss with mocking it up. I think I might just pickup STI sideskirts, and apparently they come painted? |

Another option are spats and strakes, if your just looking for some flare. |
