![]() Seems like a lot of pins for that.
Speaking of which, any of THIS stuff look familiar? http://www.maco.panasonic.co.jp/maco...p08e/car3.html |

![]() could be output for amp, input for changer, or steering wheel controls. depends on what other cars use that radio. could be for inputs for a nav unit. it looks like the plugs for ford factory changers to be honest.

![]() Don't know what it is but it's more likely that it's the sub woofer plug. It's not pre-wired though.
I just ripped apart my WRX today (seats, carpet, gauge cluster, console, and dash) and didn't see any pre-wiring for the stock sub. There was also another harness connector that was bundled with the stereo harness but not plugged in. Didn't even think to see if that would have fit in the receptacle. |

![]() It's not for the sub. The sub for the MY02 WRX comes with a harness that fits between the right connector and the car's stock harness.

![]() And to be clear, there is nothing existing in the car that plugs into this connector.

![]() How about for the Satellite Navigation System/TV System as found overseas? I know from speaking with a gentleman with a grey market STi import in England that the Nav System connected to the radio on his STi 6. Granted, Japan uses a different set of radio frequencies than we do, but it's probably the same head unit with a different crystal for their frequencies. Just a guess

![]() While what I am offering has already been posted, I found some useful info at the subarparts.com site. As mentioned by previous replys, the sub hookup plugs in between the existing wiring connector and the 14-pin receptacle on the right hand side of the radio (orientation via Glenn's picture). This info can be found in the installation instructions for the subwoofer which are posted on the subaruparts.com site....There are install instructions for all sorts of stuff. Just find the part that you want to purchase and there should be a link to a .pdf for the install instructions.

![]() as I said before IU have the subwoofer kit and the instructions but apparently the guy I bought it from they hacked it and didin't have the factory cable and cut the wire instead..
ie mine has a connector into the subwoofer that goes to 4 wires cut - fuse and power, ground and right and left channel. I do not want to install it in this hacked manner and cannot find a part number fora the correct connector that is supposed to come with it as per the install instructions. |

![]() I ordered the manual from Panasonic. No part number, just called 800-833-9626 and asked for the manual for CGEF7910A.
They only had one. Dunno what the wait will be now. Boy, I'm really hogging the WRX documentation; first the shop manual supplement, now this. ![]() For the guy missing the sub cable, call Subaruparts and see if they have the p/n for the cable by itself. It isn't in the instructions. Glenn Last edited by ANZAC_1915; 12-04-2001 at 10:57 PM. |

![]() The answer from the Panasonic service manual which arrived today:
This 16pin connector is for an external CD changer!!!!!!!!! I guess 6 CDs isn't enough! It has L+R inputs, mute, bus signals etc. You use the "CD" button to roll between the internal changer and external. I assume it must detect it first on the bus. I assume it must be a Matsu****a/Panasonic changer. Pity. You could use these external inputs for something. Glenn |

![]() I was wondering that myself. Suspect it only really supports +6, based on the display and keys. No mention in service manual.

![]() How about a function table of the connectors ... or at least which pin is "mute"? My Nokia hands free cell phone cradle can use it to automatically mute the radio when a call is received.
Also, what are the specs. for the mute line? Mute when grounded I'd guess. |
