![]() I'm looking to buy a car in Calif and have it shipped to NY. I don't have the time to fly out and drive back myself so a transport company is the only option. Anyone know of a decent reliable company to use that will get the car to me safe and sound ?

![]() do you know anyone in cali? my sister had an old friend drive her car across country when she moved out west from Maine and it cost her about 350. If i had vacation time I'd do it for ya. drove across last summer and it was a blast. of course make sure it's insured if you do that.
My mom had her car shipped and it cost like 1500 i think. it's been a while so I'm not sure but I remember being like "holy....!" ![]() |

![]() I had my car shipped from NJ to FL for like 800 then from FL to Chicago for 1200 and then from Chicago to LI and that was 1500. Its cheaper if you have a spot in jersey for them to drop it off at. They told me its so much of a pain in the A$$ to drive on LI they charge so much more . just my 2cents

![]() With any car carrier you go to unless they're a really high dollar outfit, you have to expect that any modified car will get beaten. If there's anything you can do to limit this abuse (ignition cut-off) then do it before the shipper gets their hands on it. I shipped a car out with DAS Autoshippers (Ebay recommended and same carrier my company uses for relocating new-hires) and they drained the car of gas and shagged the tires bad. Luckily nothing broke but it's best to expect that these transporters will do what they can to have fun with your car before they drop it off to you.
If it's a civic then no worries ![]() |

![]() It will be a stock car, a Forester XT. Not highly modified but probably still fun to tear around with. This one will be brand new from the dealer, it would be pretty obvious if they balded the tires that it was them.... not that I know what I could do about it.
What did you pay ? |

In any case, I believe we paid about $500 shipped from California to Ohio. You can get a quote from their website; DASAutoshippers.com I believe. This was on an open car carrier. |

Its just one of those things... do the Calif versions have different emissions ? I thought Subie just makes one version for the whole country to keep it simple. |

![]() California cars have to be deignated as a California emission car. They are different and have more trouble breathing and usaully more weight is involved. I brought a motorcycle back from Cali and when we stripped off all the useless crap you don't need in Texas I had a box that weighed about 22lbs...and that is from a motorcycle!

![]() Try http://www.reindeerauto.com/ The owner is my cousin in Indy and I'm sure he'll be able to help. He does a lot of Disney relocation so it could be a little too expensive but it won't hurt to ask for a quote.
When I was thinking of running a race down in GA (I live in IL) he was going to pick it up at the gas station by my house (too hard to get a semi down my street) and drop it off at the event location the day before the event. It would be on the truck for 3 days but the timing was right for me. Good luck! |

![]() I just shipped my car from Nashville to Tucson for $630 by DAS. They did a pretty good job. My wife and I drove her car and got there in 4 days (puppies have to pee a lot). My suby got there about a week after I did. They did a good job, no damage, no unnecessary mileage. I just would have liked it if it got there faster.
