No problem, and yes.

I should have quoted what I posted, as another member originally found the details and posted here for all to enjoy.

Edit: I made adjustments and made the earlier post a quote (as it should be.)

I want to do this, but I am having a hell of a time even finding a CP635U1.

It's exactly what I was looking for. More robust, deeper sound; easy install and OEM fitment; and cheap.
Glad it all worked out for you. I assume you are Dave_B I was in contact with over on KCSubaru?

I have seen both answers here, will the Chinese eBay radio work with SAT radio? I'm fine with using wheel control to access, just want to be sure it will work.
Thanks

On mine it does not, even with cycling through the steering wheel controls. I was surprised since another poster stated theirs did.

Interested in what others with the euro version have to say.

Can anyone confirm that the subwoofer output on the China unit works as intended? I'm assuming it will have a flat frequency response and not be subject to the funky EQ the amplified signal receives Is there a separate adjustment in the audio menu for just the subwoofer?

I'd really like to add a sub while keeping the stock look and not having to resort to a LOC/audio processor. Thanks.

Edit: And what about the CAN bus business? This is for a 13 wrx.

Any of you added the Alpine KTP-445U to these stock head unit upgrades you're doing? I'm looking at a slightly different route, but I hear good things about the Alpine Power Pack. I'm curious if anyone has any experience with them here, since the stock speakers seem pretty decent in the later-model Imprezas.

I purchased the Apine but have yet to install it. When I do, I'll report back. On another note, I had mentioned somewhere along the line that I replaced the stock speakers with the Subi/Kicker upgrades. My take is that for how cheap the stockers are, they sound decent. (ie: they sound better than they ought to considering, but they still leave a lot to be desired.) All four old ones weigh less than one upgraded speaker. The magnet is no bigger then your thumb in diameter and maybe 3/4 to an inch long. If you plan to drive them with more power, the stock speakers will probably not be acceptable. The HU that many of us have changed to produces better sound at slightly higher volumes where the stock HU begins to distort. The better speakers improve that a little more. When I finally get my butt in gear, I'm looking forward to getting the Alpine installed.

i am happy with the CP635U Head Unit, Alpine KTP445U, and Polk DB6501 speakers.

could use a little more bottom end, but for now everything is good enough

Anyone else notice that the shipping charge for the eBay/China HU mysteriously increased by $10?

They also dropped the price from 179 to 169 so when you add them together they are essentially the same price. I assume they did this so people think that it has lowered in price when it is actually the same due to shipping.

Damn $350 + shipping is starting to get up there. For reference I just picked up a AVIC-X9310BT from eBay for $350 + shipping. It is the Canadian model of the AVIC-X930BT and hopefully is a plug and play solution.

I paid 350 iirc for my cp635 and it was worth it to me, it looks stock, bt works great (with the standard radio it is crap, but with these ones the noise cancelling is better), the sound quality is better. I'm happy enough
