![]() The dream of a Porsche-beating flat 6 Subaru uber-car is now finally, completely, inarguably dead. Other auto makers stuck to the path and we're seeing the last gasp of near-1000 hp gas performance cars, but in hindsight Subaru turned away with the FA engine, which was when I turned away from Subaru. I'll go have a little cry into my scotch now, look for EZ30 parts, and window shop for Porsches I can't afford on BringATrailer.

Based on what the Aussies & Germans have been doing with the GR Yaris for the past couple years, it's going to accept mods well & be reliable. There are very few failures on modified cars and they are valve train related while chasing big power; the only failures on stock cars I've found are from money shifts and again, there aren't many. Aussies were tracking & drag racing at 500hp on the stock bottom end without issue. They beat the bag out of that engine on the dyno and track chasing power, threw a massive turbo at it pushing double stock boost levels, head didn't lift, head gasket didn't fail; it's just a well designed & overbuilt engine. As for replacement cost, google it or call a dealer if you're really interested? You appear to have a tentative grasp on using the internet to find information though, so maybe stick with the latter option. This case specifically, engine-wise it looks to be at least a long block. |

well thats ALSO true of any manufacturers engine, in fact its happening to new corvette C 8's.... BMW is also notorious for wiping out engine bearings in several of their engine series even the Supposed better quality M series...very common for them tonchew up and spit out bearings with normal design limit usage...and their engines were extremelynexpensivd to fix. Ej's are not... ...so you see you haven't come up with any epiphany here..nice try to make subarus look worse when in fact they are NOT ![]() |

The guy who blew his motor was racing the car while in break in and absolutely beating on it - he made that video for publicity and maybe Toyota will step in and cover. The engine is an absolute gem, 1.6 L with 300hp is an engineering marvel. Motorsports derived…only someone like yourself and straight6 could talk poorly about it. How embarrassing |

![]() GR Yaris is such a realized car. It still looks great because the body looks like thought was put into it. As much as I enjoy the GR Corolla in concept, overall, compared to the GRY, I find myself disappointed. It feels like an afterthought, regardless of Gazoo Racing claiming they'd always planned on the GRC.

![]() 1990's Mazda 1.3 rotary engines are commonly built to 500-600+ horsepower double the 255-275 horsepower stock output,
people acting like this toyota 3 cylinder is some kind of miracle of engineering lol. 1996 Lotus Esprit....2.2 litre 4 cylinder made 301 horsepower and could approach 170 MPH top speed Anyone want to try 170 in a Corrolla ?? Probably not the best idea. |

Yeah it’s just a “Corolla” you are a clueless person. 1996 Esprit you’d **** your pants any speed over 130mph. The Corolla is stable. Delete your account you embarrass yourself with every word you type By the way your STI is based on an impreza like my two are. You shouldn’t talk about cars because you know NOTHING |

A 300hp 1.6L I3T in a mass produced car with a factory 5yr/60k powertrain warranty is pretty bonkers, considering that power level is 2.0L I4T territory for most manufacturers and for Subaru it's a *reference does not exist*. |

![]() It's a video about how the GR Yaris is uncharted territory and people are making assumptions about how to tune it without properly understanding it. BRZ/86 took a bit to crack too. But I guess it's a bad thing for the GRY/GRC because it makes the WRX look worse.
People on here talking about forged internals when it wasn't even suggested by the tuner in the video. I thought the presentation spelled it out clearly enough. Sent from my SM-F926U using Tapatalk |

![]() umm..no...its quite credible. There are lots of teardown videos of the 3 cylinder Toyotas after being blown up over the the past 2 years....catastrophic failures. Specifically from missed shifts which makes that engine and tranfere case go BOOM. Wake up. Your asleep..wake up...now...wake up..wake up.

a grenaded engine from a missed shift isn't a design failure. if you believe it is, then I really don't care to try and change your mind, you would be the only person that believes that and we will all laugh at you behind your back for saying that, so literally, you're not doing yourself any favors. |

![]() Straight from the video above:
“…we’re been able to find out that there have actually been quite a lot of breakages with these engines. They are very fragile when it comes to knock or detonation. We’ve seen numerous engines now where the pistons have effectively disintegrated from knock. Now it doesn’t take much to get to that point. Typically we see that on 98 fuel…” |
