Default Anyone here have an SVX?

Does anyone in NESIC have an SVX??

I am thinking about buying one for a spare car. If I get it, I would like to know who has one so I can ask about which mods work and which don't.

I would hate to get piston slap soon after buying it.

hmm....if I get it, I think I will have to change my name to goingfor250hp

Good question. I haven't driven in one in many years, I might be interested in picking one up as a project car.

PS: I heard through the grapevine tonite that Patriot Subaru in Saco, ME has a '92 w/ 48K for $7500.

The wheels are on backwards!

And FYI, they're all autos, at least from the factory.

Wow, low miles and good price on that one in Maine.

I am trying to get a 95 with 99k miles and the guy wants 3300 obo so I am going to go and check it out tomorrow. The car has an auto starter, new tires and an extra set of stock rims, perfect for winter tires. I already called another guy selling Michelin Pilot Alpins for 200 obo and I think I will have both things real soon.

To think, for 3500 obo having a 95 SVX plus winter tires and rims how can I go wrong?

Thanks for the input guys......Beefcake and Dark, I will be talking to you guys soon enough.

Thanks for the heads up, I have noticed that looking at the cars on Ebay. Seems every other one said "Tranny replaced" or "rebuilt", but for the most part a lot of the cars had mileage way past 100k, even some with 195k so the car has to be pretty rugged to do that.

I don't plan to drive like Davenow anyway so I can make the tranny last a bit longer

Do they all have faux woodtrim?

Are they standard Subaru bolt pattern and offset?

94 to 96 L models had grey trim, but watch out most of those were FWD.

And if by standard Subaru bolt pattern you mean the same as an 05 STI? Then yes.

Thats an good price for an SVX with under 100K. One thing you should be aware of since you did mention mods, the SVX is not a race car. Many people have gotten and SVX with dreams to be the next Vin Deisel, and have been sorely dissapointed. The car was built to be a luxury touring coupe, and not to compete with the Supra, 300Z, 3KGT, etc... as a lot of people assume. Also, as has been said, the first thing you want to do to this car is put in an external trannie cooler, regardless of whether the trannie has been replaced or not. americanyouth is right, expect the trannie to go sometime, period. The cooler just may delay the inevitable, though. Other that and the wheel bearings, the car is pretty much bullet-proof.

No, only the LSi's have the wood trim, but those are the most common one's too. The L's and LS's have grey trim. And no, they do not have standard Subaru BP and offset, at least as of now. They have a BP of 5x114.3 and an offset of 55mm (sound familiar)

I've heard 2 reasons. First, Subaru didn't have a strong enough manual for the EG33. Second, they didn't want one in it because they were going for luxury, like I said. No one really knows for sure, though.
