Default Just ran over the biggest, what looks to be an axle, I have ever seen

Damnit!!! Another car and minivan hit it before me and it ended up directly in front of my car.

Story...
Driving down 820, going about 80, about 50 yards behind the minivan. Just driving along, looking around, looking at other cars, looking at the gauges, blah blah. Next thing you know I am staring at a very sizable piece of something directly in front of me. Not off to the side, but right in front of me, about 20 yards ahead. No way in hell I am going to try to swerve out of the way at 80 miles an hour. So I brace for the impact. I immediately think it is going to rip my oil pan apart because it is directly in front of me. It hits, and hits hard. Car immediately veers to the left and is now drooping. Next thing you know as I am slowing down, I see blue smoke pouring from the left side of the car. Yep, I think, it hit the damned oil pan. I get outside only to see a flat tire. The smoke was from the tire burning itself up against the road. I look under the car and somehow the gigantic piece of axle missed the oil pan and shot left into the control arm and then into the side of the tire. I open the trunk to get the jack and find that the piece to turn the jack is missing. I try to use my hands to turn it, but it hurt too bad. I ended up taking off the hood prop and using that to turn the jack.

Lovely. I just bought the damned tires last week.

Hrumph. Heading over to Courtesy Nissan to pick up a Nismo tension rod brace and some adjustable tension rods. An eBay-er has control arms for $55 shipped. Not too bad overall for a completely rebuilt front suspension. They will be a nice addition to my larger 1990 Cefiro / 2000ish Altima brakes, MR coilovers, Whiteline swaybar & endlinks, and cheap MR strut brace.

Got the tension brace and tc rods in. Quite a difference! Very stiff front end.
