Glad to see some activity here. Dash cams are something everyone should have in their cars.

Hey guys,
Is there any type of dash cam or mount that is similar to BlendMount for a dash cam? I will have a 5% tint strip on my windshield that stops right at the rear view mirror and I don't want to put any 3M tape on the inside of the tint. I don't want any type of screen on the dash cam either. This is blendmount for those of you who haven't seen it: |

Really do want a dashcam though, got screwed with my 1st gen Legacy when a tractor trailer cut me off and drove over the car. The trucker's buddy happened to be following in another vehicle and it was my word vs. theirs . |

Anyone know where I can get the following:
a) thin Mini USB to USB cable - 12ft. Prefer a right angle Mini USB b) A rearview mirror mount. I have a HP210 dashcam and it uses a "slide and click" to connect to the manufacturer's mount, which is too long and unstable. |

It's a peace of mind honestly, I just let it loop record and it auto records and shuts off so once set up, you're covered. I just need to get another for the rear. You can of course let it record with motion if you want it recording while you're away. |

I am thinking of purchasing the Blackvue DR650GW-2CH. Does anyone have this cam in their car? How do you like it?

I've been using View-I cameras in my cars for about a 18 months now. I was in a hit-and-run encounter on the highway right after I got one in my Impreza. The guy who hit me refused to acknowledge that he was in an accident at all, and his insurance company wouldn't pay. So I shared the video with them, and got a check for $1100 right quick. Here's a link to the product:
http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/pr...+car+camera.do I've been looking at these SmartNav products on eBay, kind of pricey but have lots of bells and whistles. I'd like to know more about them and their reliability: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171522355353...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT |

Been running DashCam Car Video Recorder RCPANOGDVR with GPS in my WRX for quite a while lately. Video quality is really good, always records, hard wired it to constant on lead in headliner, has GPS built in. Bought it from www.RoadCam.com.
It has a cool feature where if it detects a bump or a sudden shake, it will take the current recording and place it in a non rotating folder on the flash (You ca also trigger this by hitting a button). |

I might be looking for too much in a dashcam. My needs: decent night capabilities, internal mic (doesn't have to be good quality - they usually aren't), GPS antenna (need to make sure I can prove I wasn't speeding). I have considered the Blackvue, but have heard reliability is a problem. I also have to deal with heat, here in SE Texas, so that means capacitors.
I don't need a screen, I don't need a G-sensor. I don't need wifi. I don't need more than one channel. I do like the G1WC, but it doesn't have GPS. Any recommendations? I'm willing to spend to about $250 (the Blackvue model I was considering is http://www.amazon.com/BlackVue-Wi-Fi-DR500GW-HD-Black-Recorder/dp/B00B4E9764). |

I just picked up an OJO CAM Pro 2 with a 32 gig MicroSd card, hard wire kit and built in gps / map system with g-sensor for $126 shipped to my door (Free shipping). Wicked little cam. Turns on automatically when I start the car, and shuts off when car shut off. Super small and discrete. You won't find a better price on a dash cam. 1080p as well and build in sound.

Can you set these dash cams to run while the car is off and parked?
I hate parking in the streets or the city when I have my varis kit on and this would help me sleep at night |

Yeah, they have some with motion detection but it uses a portion of your car battery when you car is turned off. Supposedly not enough to cause the car not to start though.

You are correct. There are battery discharge prevention devices available that will shut the camera off if the battery goes below a specified voltage. Mine also allows me to shut off the camera after a specified period of time.

Of course it's going to depend on how you park. In an open area you probably want front & back camera at least. Garmin right now has their first gen Virb for $99. Wider angle lens and you can use it just like GoPro. I've been thinking about it; just don't want to spend $300-$400 for a camera I probably won't use very often. |

I just bought the mobius... I got the wide angle lens and bought the capacitor as well. I'll post pictures when I get it setup, but from my research, seems the way to go for my needs.
