. All of the problems I have read have been with other brands but it's possible that is due to the grimmspeed being relatively new. I fell victim to the quicker rpm drop and the supposed reliability enhancement. Anyway, I just took the leap and got the grimmspeed. I'll let you know if thing go awry. |

I really like the Invidia stuff. Bummer the ground clearance isn't very good, but I think this was done to allow for the best flow. Quote:

I used your average fuel consumption numbers to determine how much less miles per tank you are seeing. MY08+ WRX Fuel Tank Capacity, Approx (gal): 16.9 93oct average fuel consumption (combined): 20mpg e85 average fuel consumption (combined): 16mpg 93oct average miles/tank: 338miles e85 average miles/tank: 270.4miles Difference = -67.6miles/tank That's not that bad, IMO. I was expecting worse (in my head I had 170...yikes!) However, you seem to have a lighter foot than me. I'm in Philly, and I'm happy to see a combined fuel consumption of 18mpg on 93oct. I have a Yakima roof rack with the old style Yakima fairing. (I cruise at 75mph on the highway.) Were your average fuel consumption numbers before or after you added your roof rack & fairing? . . . matthew |

i dont think its having a lighter foot, its MN vs philly. I live in a pretty rural area and I average around 21...used to always get awful mpg when I lived on long island with tons of stop and go traffic all the time.

I did notice that when I added the roof rack, my fuel economy dropped even more. I've been seeing 13-15MPG lately. |

Car looks and sounds awesome! For being a dd (including winter driving) your black paint looks really good! I take care of mine the best I can and still have some marks and the famous cobweb look when the sun hits it. Black looks the best but is the worst to take care of.

Doooood! I can't wait to see your numbers with the 20gxtr. I'm such a noob, I thought turbos were a lot more expensive than what they are. After I learned how "affordable" they are, I've been shopping for them the past 2 weeks. I'm leaning towards the Blouch 20gxtr as well. Good luck with it. Are you staying with the e85? or Do you think you'll run mostly 93oct on it?
(I'm mostly considering staying with 93oct and going 20gxtr INSTEAD of keeping the vf52 and going e85.) Keep us updated! p.s. where'd you order from? |

I am going to be using E85 with this turbo too.
If you have E85 available I would definitely go for that and the stock turbo over a larger turbo and pump gas. |

e85 is not widely available (only 2 stations within a 20mile radius to me.) But I would be willing to make the drive...
So why do you recommend against 20gxtr + 93oct vs vf52 + e85? ^(thought about just asking you that in a PM but decided this was a relevant discussion regarding your specific build as well.) |

-Both require fuel system upgrades.
-Both make similar power. VF52 and E85: -Cheaper (don't have to buy a new turbo) - Spools faster - More resistant to knock But if E85 is too big of a hassle, then it's not worth it. Otherwise I think there are a lot of good arguments for E85 instead of a bigger turbo. Ideal is a bigger turbo AND E85 |
