Pulled the bumper, fender liners, dash, and engine harness out of my L yesterday. I also added 1 1/16" svx master cylinder. Thank you god the engine harness was separate from the dash harness in my L, made life so much easier. Right now I am working on my wiring harness and sanding down my oil pan so I can paint it wrinkle red. It is going to be a bunch of restoring parts until my engine is clean enough to put in the L. I am going to start flocking on my dash as well. I wish i knew someone who could help me with a paint job where I help and pay someone a bit and show me how to paint...I have the itch to shave my bay and paint it sooo bad haha.

So i have some questions with my build...
How much power will the stock SVX injectors support?
Will a refreshed EG take moderate boost? (350-400hp)
Can I use Sti rods? I think i can...
Do you think it is possible to refresh all of the bushings, put on some decent coilovers, sway bars, brembos, paint, engine build, and turbo set up for around $9k?
I will be on top of my budget and try to get deals for everything and have buddies help with paint and what not.
What are your thoughts? and I dreaming too hard?

the 285s max out as soon as the maf does, which is anything over a catback and air filter.
EGs take well to boost, the rod bolts and rods are the weak point
sti rods work

okay, I am planning to run a Megasquirt III so I am most likely going to run speed density.
Can I use any Subaru side feed injector? I do not know too much about side feeds..
What would you suggest?
Probably going to add ARP rod bolts now that you mention that.
I am making a budget now so I am trying to make final decisions on parts so I cansee if it will be in my budget.I am going to sell my wrx wagon to fund my build so I want to be 100% that I can have a well rounded and reliable car that is still scary to drive

no idea why youd want to run ms but whatever, you run whatever injectors you want.
550s z32 maf and stock ecu with rom editing is waht i'd do, and have done.

Okay I am going to put up a proposed build list. Please add your 2 cents..

92 EG33 107k miles, runs good, no CEL's
New stock pistons (might have them shaved to lower CR for boost or custom pistons which run $1100-$1400, where to get them?)
Most likely STI rods with ARP bolts
ACL race bearings (2 sets from an ej22)
New Piston rings ( suggestions??)
All new Gaskets

Block:
hot tanked and cleaned so it is as spotless as I can get it, heads will be cleaned and have a valve job done. (no porting or cams yet $$$)
Rotating assembly will be balanced

Wrinkle red manifold, might reverse it
I will need some bigger injectors. What fits the svx manifold and rails? Enough flow for E85 would be nice
Ported stock throttle body
Gasket matched intake manifold and fuel stacks
Wrinkle red valve covers and oil pan
New water pump and timing accessories
new oil pump. where can I find one, I have had no luck. bigger pump possible?
gasket matched exhaust manifolds that I will fab up some turbo piping for
Holset hx35 or hx40
MSIII does boost control
I will fab an exhaust
Egr and unnecessary systems removed
Flywheel off of my ej18 with new pilot bearing
stock wrx clutch and pressure plate for now ( I know it wont hold for boost)
Megasquirt III ecu ( still not 100% on how the timing will work but I think MS3 fixed that issue?? might have to get a new crank trigger wheel, who knows..
walbro pump- might need something bigger
Modify thermostat housing to 50mm for moar flow
I am going to try to use my Koyo rad out of my 02 wrx on a custom tubular lower radiator mount
solid or pretty solid motor mounts

I also need to get:
Depo headlights and signals
Rs bumper- the L bumper is garbage
Brembos
Suspension bushings
wheel bearings maybe
trunk lid
wider wheels and tires?
Decent coil overs (suggestions?)
Some cheap way to paint the thing- not too worried about it for now, I would just like to drive it.
6speed in the future but not until my NA 5 speed breaks

My goal for the car is to have a fun, leightweight fun street car that i can take to a drag strip or track days and have some good fun with. I am not trying to break records or anything, just a fun toy I can tweak and modify over the years.I love subarus and the thought of a Turbo EG33 in a lightweight GC would be most peoples subie wet dream so I don't think i can go to wrong with that combo except an EZ30 or EZ36 lol.
So feel free to put in your two cents!

I want to run MSIII because it just kicks butt and it is cheaper than hydra. It has launch control, FFS, 2 step, nitrous control, boost control, map switching...yada yada yada. I just think the SVX ecu is stone age and will not do so well with boost. I do not think many tuners could tune a SVX ecu anyways and I dont think I could get a solid tune down by myself. I am pretty knowledgeable about tuning but I have never seen anyone edit a table or anything so I do not want to risk it. I think I will be able to get it to idle by my self though.

I can try to convince you otherwise, but it seems youre pretty solid in your ignorant ways.. good luck on your build

I was not trying to come off as ignorant, i was stating why I wanted to use the MS. why would YOU not use the MS? I am just curious. You have done more with the svx ecu than I have. I never got to drive my SVX.

You said you didn't understand why he wanted to use the MSIII, he provides his reasons why (which seem reasonable to me), and your response is to tell him he's ignorant? Classy!

eg33gc hates the megasquirt. he would rather use the factory ecu, and keep burning eproms.

megasquirt on the eg33 is becoming well documented, and soon could be at the point of buying it and loading a canned tune. you can already build a rudimentery plug and play - no wiring set up. just gotta wait untill someone finishes a solid base tune.

I agree, i do not think it will be as bad as it seems. TONS of people use MS with success or I would not even consider it an option.

A base map could be made by following the stock SVX ecu parameters from the factory (fuel map, timing map, etc) and tweaking them. I am no tuner though, but people run all sorts of engines on MS. Trigger wheels will be the tricky part of the MS.

trigger wheel has been solved. use the ms3x board with your ms3.

-buy the diybob which allows you to plug your stock harness into the ms.

-use the 12 evenly spaced crank wheel and the cam wheel.

-buy a vr conditioner to get clean crank and cam signals.

I am going to post up some links that are helpful concerning the EG33 and MS

Here is Icingdeath88's MS how to on SVX world forums. Lots of MS install tech info:http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=60860

Chausx on SL-I.net has a nice EG/MS build like mine but finished - http://www.sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=21574

Andy Forrest is the man when it comes to EG imprezas, check him out for sure! (he has more threads if you google it) -http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2420207

Here is a great write up on cooling issues with the EG33. long story short modify your thermostat housing to 50mm from 27 mm to reduce cavitation. This guy did a great test!: http://www.mrtperformance.com.au/res...boiling-theirs

I will continue to add to the list

custom pistons which run $1100-$1400, where to get them?)

I got custom pistons from Supertech 408 448-2001 + rings for under $1000 - 8.5 forged for a EZ30R engine that I am turbocharging for a mid engined build.

FYI, EG33GC = Jake on the other forums. He's a knowledgable *******/troll.

<- BRZCory everywhere else but here.

For EG'd Imprezas. I just flocked my dash today, and have a MS2 sitting on my bench waiting for me to rewire it for 6 ignition outputs (MS3 supports that many, MS2 needs a bit of help, but still does it!)

Good luck!
