So far my only big issue is a whistling noise that sounds like its coming from the rear when I'm on the interstate, and a noisy throw out bearing during shifts.

*knocks on wood* No real rattles yet, but I do have weird thumps/bumps/knocks while the radio is on/playing.
I'm supposed to get a new HU because the CD player runs continuously with no CD in it and I'm thinking these noises are a result of some issue with the CD player/sound system. Before y'all tell me it's normal, I've had the car a little over a week and I've spent 3.5hr driving to/from the mountains from home. I've turned the radio off/muted sound and driven for 10-15min and hear no other sounds than normal "road noise". Turning the radio back on/un-muting, those same sounds return in 1-3 minutes. Where do they "sound" like they're coming from? Left/right side front area, left/right rear, trunk, underneath me, rear roof....everywhere but the extreme front of the car. Randomness. |

2019 WRX and STI gripes/complaints/rattles
What is the algorithm behind the oil change light in the multi function display? I had it set for 4K miles and the notification came on today and I still have 300+ miles to go. Is it meant to come on early or is something else triggering it?

I can't remember if it's in the owner's manual or not, but I think mine starts popping up with the reminder +-500 miles before the actual mileage selected. I think they meant it to come on early as a heads up that you'll need to change the oil soon.
Edit: I was curious, so I searched through the owner's manual and found it. "The maintenance notification screen will be displayed under either of the following conditions. - The period of time remaining until the registered notification date is 15 days or less. - The total driving distance remaining until the registered notification distance is approximately 311 miles (500 km) or less." The paint so far. I should of gotten PPF, but was impatient and got a Cobb CBE first. Oh well ***129335;***127995;****9794;***65039;.
Second is the noise that's coming from the clutch. It's a clicking noise and it's intermittent, but it's annoying. Had dealership replace a switch on the clutch pedal. It was fine for a few days and now it's back. Other than that it's been a great car to me! |

I took my CWP '19 STI straight from the dealership to the detailer to have the PPF applied. It was expensive, but worth it so far. We'll see how it holds up over the years. |

How do you like the Cobb catback? I'm on the fence on getting the stainless steel version not the titanium one. My 2019 STI is stock and I plan on keeping it stock. It's hard to find anyone or even some videos with a stock STI with the Cobb catback so i can hear it. I'm looking for a little Rumble but nothing too loud. |

Agreed. I heard one in person the other day and it sounded nice, but I'm not sure of the mods. I think it would be too loud for me with a downpipe. Vibrant makes a 3" titanium resonator for $230, but then you would have to find a trusted shop to cut and weld your titanium exhaust.
HKS makes what I would consider the "perfect exhaust" for my tastes, unfortunately you'll need a spare $4k laying around. HKS Super Turbo Titanium Catback https://www.hksusa.com/news/new-supe...rx-and-wrx-sti |

I guess the worst sound is around 2500-3500 rpm on the STI. But idle and higher rpms it's excellent, and as said above, perfect on the WRX. Even at its loudest, it is a very deep tone and never goes fart-can, but I do want to quiet it down unless I'm really gunning it.... Also, it sounds much better from the outside than inside the car, but the rumbles and pops are addictive. |

All the weird thumps/thunks/thuds are gone from my WRX after getting the radio head unit replaced.
Haven't heard anything else yet. |

It doesn't drone at all in the highway (At least in my experience). I wanted Cobb CBE or the Invidia R400, but everyone says the R400 is too loud and drones a lot. So that was a no for me It gives you that nice deep rumble which is not obnoxious. It was hard to find videos of it, but I pulled the trigger and so far I'm happy with it! |

Can confirm. I have Cobb TBE and it is perfect. My nameless sounded good, but I grew out of the noise level with the Cobb downpipe. I installed the Cobb and it is exactly what I wanted. |

Can anybody tell me - do STIs maybe have somewhat better quality when it comes to the rattle department? It seems that from what I've read it seems that most of the rattle issues are on the WRX side.

My 19 STI has a head unit rattle and my 16 STI has minor rattles everywhere. Most rattles are cured with a loud exhaust. |

The rattles are about the same between my '16 WRX and '19 STI. Most of the extra STI money goes towards the drivetrain and brakes.

ETS quiet catback sounds great on an STI. It came off my previous year WRX, which sounded way more tame.
On the 19 STI, you get the rumble, and it just sounds tame but mean when you get on it. I may have a video of it on my phone that I can upload to youtube if anyone is interested. I think its like 1200$ new |

The metal collar around my fuel filler neck appears to be the source of some noise. Anyone else have a loose one? Did I get a very special car that needs to go to the dealer? P.S I really don't care but it is kinda funny since the car has 1200 miles on it.

My head unit has an odd rattle that literally no one else has complained about. Welcome to the exclusive rattle club.

Compared to my 2004 and 2007 Sti this one feels very hard to drive smooth. The clutch is very light and seems to engage higher than on my previous cars. Anyone else experience this?
It makes shifting from 1-2 a pain. Thinking about getting new engine mounts and rear diff bushings to see if it makes shifting more solid. |
