Probably apple users. They'd be better off with a Tesla.

My dad is a Tesla fanatic. He had a 2017 Model S and recently purchased a 2024 Model S after he handed down his old one to my older brother. He takes every opportunity that he gets to poo-poo other EV car brands and talk about how Tesla is the best, etc. (although he hates the Muskrat with a burning passion)

Anyway, while his car was in for service one time, the Tesla store told him that they were having a "learn about your car" day for Tesla owners that weekend. He went to the event, thinking they were going to teach folks about the technical aspects of battery charging, regenerative braking, best practices to optimize battery usage, etc., basically all the cool tech that sets EVs apart from ICE cars. Nope...they literally taught people how to check their tire pressure, tire tread, refill their washer fluid, how to adjust their mirrors for optimal visibility, etc. He said it was the biggest waste of an hour ever (he left early but stayed through most of it because they had free coffee and donuts).

While I do like the Tesla interface, I would like the ability to overlay Waze onto the navigation. So, I do miss CarPlay. Also, Apple Music native on Teslas is flaky.

Hahha. I have been invited to help educate at those events by the Owners Club. That is a pretty terrible experience.

I mean, I get it, but it's really not that overwhelming. Just like any car, there's a whole bunch of settings that you do on day one and never touch again unless something bugs you. And at least in this car, it's all really simple to navigate and pretty intuitive menus so you don't need to bust out the drivers manual to figure out what combinations of buttons and arrows you need to press to get to a particular menu.

As far as drive modes, it's reasonably simple. There's eco, normal, sport, and N for the N cars. And then there's a separate regeneration level with 4 settings, 0-3 and then single pedal driving. I feel like my 2018 Golf R had a way more complicated drive mode setup.

Yeah, totally get it, I was just taking a rib at how Apple is usually like 5 years behind Andriod in adding new features. As a "never apple" guy, I find it funny when apple using friends are excited about "new" features that I've had for a generation now... Android Auto/Apple CP is pretty much a requirement when I'm looking at cars these days.

People who bitch about touchscreens are the same people who whined when physical keyboards went away on cell phones. Theyíre really not that big of a deal, and are pretty easy to use provided you have an IQ over 80.

Apple friends? And getting pumped about some new trivial, meaningless bs on your pacifier? Wow. Even wasting breath on ďMy phone just got X and Y new featuresĒ. If I ever get to that point Iíll just kill myself.

I found the sales guy!

a touchscreen interface vs buttons is demonstrably less safe. enough less safe that EU is making it so if you sell a car with core functionality through a touchscreen you will automatically not get a 5 star rating.

fun fact about Subaru's auto HVAC, when you set the AC at 70ish degrees to full auto it splits the airflow between dash and floor vents. so you get cold AC blowing on your feet as well as in the cabin.

I suspect this is a feature so the air is blowing as hard through the dash vents when the climate reaches a stable level.

maybe for most that's a 'who cares' moment, but for some who wear open toes, or no shoes, it sucks. no auto for me.

lol the climate buttons are on the Home Screen the same as a physical button. Itís not more dangerous youíre just tapping a screen instead of a button. If you canít handle driving and tapping an icon then please cut your license up and take public transit.

Physical button is tactile and screen is flat so you have to take your eyes off and make sure you watch your finger go hit the flat surface. Its not easy, imo.

I am old school and prefer analog and physical buttons i can touch without having to look at it.

I dont do voice commands at all, except for voice to text with carplay.

what i hated most about the SVX when i had it was the climate control ... heat always came out the bottom, and AC always came out the top ... no exceptions.

as someone who hates the feeling of hot sweaty feet, this was a big problem.

The whole process of buying a car is exhausting. Making me sit through a 1 hr explanation of the car is just annoying at that point.
Having said that, your job has its merits. Some times it needs a person to sit with you to explain things.

To try things out, I tried using my Kia's voice command. Volume up.

System almost dialed the number of a woman I havent talked to in years

I should delete those old numbers. Especially my ex's.

100%. When I am mentioned to the customer, many folks really like it. Brain fried and ready to go. They love it and regularly make mention of it on surveys. Which is pretty much the reason the program exists. I was doing this long before Subaru created this program.

As for calling the wrong person. Oh yeah. That can be comical and a mad scramble to end the "call" before it initializes.

really?!?

Soooo, with Subaru anyway, the manuals have been known to be wrong. One example. When the SGP Impreza was introduced, the manual talked about Dual Zone Climate Controls. Yep, that generation NEVER got it and was in the manual from day one. And the current manuals say little to nothing about a feature the current NAVs have that has been a popular "I'm going to have to use that". And part of my joy to show someone that says "I've figured it all out" things they didn't even realize they had. Sometimes it doesn't matter. It may be a thing they'd never use. Other times, it's a "life changer"(as said by some). Another joy is a customer on their 3rd, 4th, 5th Subaru and I show them a feature they had on their previous car. Full blown arguments a couple times(I don't typically push that far with a customer). Once to the point we still had the trade in and we went to see. That was fun.

And that's how I feel about the 11.6" display. Set the things you set and rarely need to get back in.

As for Europe, that sounds more like putting "HOT" on a muffler. They also made a law for devices to have to use USB-C. That doesn't say much.

HVAC system? Yeah. Like I have said, it's not perfect. There are also folks with eye issues that want a cold temp but can't have too much fan. It's not perfect; but, really good if you work with it to find that just right setting.

When I bought mine the dealer was great with delivery. It was during COVID so no interior walk through (I wouldíve declined anyway) but they used zip ties to put the front plate on and didnít drill into the bumper which I really appreciated. Before I left the kid asked when I was going to mod it lol.

Great sales department. Too bad their service department blows.

Jdm STi ver9 engine with factory pink injectors, factory twinscroll vf37 turbo and exhaust manifold. Tomioka downpipe, Stromung 3Ē exhaust, Grimmspeed lightweight crank pulley, Cobb 3 port boost controller, 20psi on 93 octane. Jdm STi ver7 6 speed transmission and matching 3.9 rear diff.
Did 3 highway rolling pulls, I pulled ahead every time. His car looked band new and still had the factory exhaust so probably completely stock.
