![]() a guy in Portland Oregon asked me about and we built a couple just to see how it all worked out
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() the two series of transmissions that are used are either the Toyota 'W' series trans ( from w 55 to 59 2wheel drive or 4 wheel drive) OR the 'R' series Toyota transmission ( either the R 150 or the R 151 from the V-6 Toyota truck in either 4wheel drive OR 2wheel drive) depending on how they are ordered is how they are machined The R 154 was avoided because the trans is getting harder to find and more expensive, so these two common transmissions were chosen, the R 154 input shaft is 3/4 inch longer and can be used in the R design bellhousing if needed these are designed to use all the stock Subaru components over with nothing more then adding a stock toyota clutch disc

![]() That is a work of art!
If I decide to forgo the AWD system in the racecar, I will be knocking on your door to beg for one of these bellhousings (can I make it work with a falcon 2 speed circletrack box?) Thanks for thinking outside the box and making a part that doesn't require a hackjob of the original drivetrain to achive desired results!!! Jay Storm |

![]() That is some pretty awesome work. I never caught the original intention of the project though. Was it for a 4 wheeling rig or because the toyota trans is beefier in some way? What is the application?

![]() the original intent was to create a true 2wheel drive system, that blossomed into the most versitle system available, so the Toyota was chosen because it included the 4wd option and increased the vehicle ride hieght with a front drive shaft, then the second option of the 'R' series was added to accomidate an even stronger transmission
why do you ask? two dawgs? |

![]() I was just curious. It looks like a TON of work and it looks very well done. I did not know there was a market for such things.

![]() I ordered 10 at the casting shop last week , I should have the raw castings on hand after that
these are built from T356 aluminum and then treated to a T 5 hardness, by the way thats aircraft standards |

![]() Wow nice I work, at a foundry and know the process but with ductile and grey iron mostly, hard process, also got a question some one told me once ,when you pour the aluminum and its full, if you just bump the mold when the aluminum still liquid it scrap right? Also just wondered if you can remake the 04sti bellhousing if your cheaper than oem I think there would some interest here but seem to be more machining, heck your pretty local I could drive up there and visit sometime with your permission.Whats the buisness name?Pm if so.Later man.

sorry for the late reply, I have been focused on the V6 Mitsubishi RWD conversion with a reverse starter I suppose I could built the r 154 bellhousing but its time consuming and I have about 4 more projects before I got to it |

![]() You sir, have my uttermost respect for fabrication skills. So, I must ask if you can make an adapter to mate a Hyundai 1.6 to a Mazda RX7 trans. (for a shopmate)

![]() My only question so far is shifter placement inside the car. I'm really considering doing a RWD swap for my Saabaru. I think this and an R180 would be sweet. My good friend just finished installing a W58 in his Hachi with a 1UZFE!!!

To start bill does beautiful work. It all bolts together as if it was meant to with no issues to speak of. Also bill was right, I wanted this so I could cram it all in a first gen rx7. As they say the proof is in the pictures. ![]() ![]() It also runs quite nicely too. ![]() Bill has been working on a remote cable style shifter to fit the w58s. But the man gets busy. I ended up making my own remote shifter, it's ghetto looking but works quite nicely. There is someone on legacy central that has already swapped one into a Lego turbo and is working on his own version of remote shifter. http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtop...44664&start=75 |
