Hey everyone, it's a first post in this thread for me. I mostly stick to the rallisport uel header thread and the "you know you have a wrx/sti when". But I do have a nice looking MY08 hatch with a list of wrx parts slapped on. One thing I do refuse to do is de-badge to pose as a wrx or get a scooped hood for the same reason.

My question is, does anyone get any respect from the wrx/sti world? Waves? Anything? I'm from eastern Canada and the closest thing to this is having a friend that liked my car and went out and bought a wrx, he waved to me haha.

I'm in the bay area, and we have a specific thread on iclub just for spots Lol. But i would say not as much unless you have a decent amount of exterior parts haha. I recently lowered my car, but i'm not really getting a lot of waves, even with it.

I find a lot of older people and younger kids can't tell the differences any way haha, makes me feel like a have a cool car. But I will say that I can rival the full boxer rumble of ANY wrx/sti, I think that helps the most part.

The people here wave to me on few occasions. Its usually the older gen sti and wrx that waves. The newer ones are pretty much stuck up..mid 20's rocking dem snapbacks and tattoos, nice whips, act like dicks lol...there is one wrx that i usually wave at and he has a big sti sticker in the front and back ...i try to wave at the 2.5i's but im usually waving at grandparents haha!

Has anyone seafoamed via a vacuum line? I used to drive a jetta and it was pretty easy to find the right vacuum line. I don't know which one to use now.

Also where are the heat shields under the engine? My car makes a strange buzz/vibration at 3k (manual tras.) I posted about it earlier and people recommended heat shield. I looked under my car and didn't see anything right away that looked loose

Heat shields are bolted around your headers as well at the cat pipe, they rattled on my car so bad. I took all of them off and it was like day and night. I would also recommend replacing the bolt supporting the cat pipe as I had some rattle from that too.

It would be really hard to get the shields off if its an older car.

I only get a heatshield noise when I'm in reverse or I stall the car. Already removed the catback heatshield n the header heatshield.

Also had that problem haha, you'll have to reinforce the bracket from the transmission to the cat pipe.

It's usually the bolt that starts to let loose. Unfortunately it's rusted out from day one. The other side of the bracket houses the nut which is welded onto the bracket itself. I used a cobalt coated drill bit to drill out hole to a larger diameter and slapped a big class 8 bolt in there. Easy fix, good luck.

Your so Lucky that you got a generator. I hope you didn't have to drop $800 on it. My car is parked in my garage luckily. I still dont have power I hope it doesn't last the predicted 7-14 days. Plus I barely get cell reception. God I dont get how people used to live. Sorry about the rant and offtopic-ness.

I have gotten a few waves from new gen wrx's but mostly the old gens wave. Also 90% of regular imprezas in my area are driven by someones grandparents. Honestly I usually get a wave if I stare the other driver down."Intimidation!!" Sometimes though they just stare back and then its just awkward :/.
