motor trend
If the STi were able to reach 60 mph in second gear (good for only about 58 mph), it'd surely beat the MR. However, adding the time to grab third means it's a dead-heat at 4.7 seconds, and the same holds for the quarter mile at 13.3 seconds at 100.1 mph. We've seen previous speeds up to 104.6 mph for an STi quarter mile, but have been told that fresh Subaru engines don't loosen up until they've seen at least 3000 miles on the odo (ours had about 1200). "We've also been told that engineers at Subaru have reflashed the ECU for 2005 to avoid cylinder detonation (pinging), which we've experienced in our long-term 2004 STi. Either way, this STi felt a little slower as compared with others we've tested." and it wont let me post up the url right now, gotta have ten post, yes i am new to this board. |

i have an 04 that was one of the first ones available. But i never put anything less than 93V power in my car and i haven't heard any marbles in my engine bay so i guess it's running great.
i have 20,600 miles on it as of yesterday. kyle |

yeah we got the rear struts replaced by subaru when we first got the car. why do they clunk though? just the design? or is it just a bad part?

I had detonation issues with my '04. It was always WOT between 4500-5000 rpms. I got the Subaru reflash about a year ago...no more det. I have also heard about the '05's doing it.
