DFW area tuner (with dyno)
What are my options in the Dallas/FtWorth area as far as shops with AWD dynos to get my car UTEC tuned at? Where are you local guys getting tuned?

Cool, thanks for the replies...
Sounds like FIS is a popular place. I had a guy give me a card for Wasabe and I know that CTC has been highly regarded in the SR20det scene. I would not take my car to Alamo if they were the only dyno within 500 miles! Maybe things have changed over there in the last year and a half, but I've seen their work. 1st, I saw how they jimmied a sway bar from a 4th gen Prelude into a 5th gen. 2nd, I was out there to talk to them about getting Hondata tuning for my GSR... the guys that were there didn't seem very interested in talking to me... and some rough looking guys (customers) started writing down the VIN number from my windshield!!! Finally, one of the guys that works there swaggers up to talk to me (he smelled like pot) and starts telling me what I really need to do is buy a DSM. I asked what he was working on with the DSM in the bay and he says, "that !@#$'s got crankwalk for the 3rd time". I just smiled. In all fairness to Alamo, that was only one or two isolated incedents that I have personal experience with... they could be a great shop for all I know... Thanks for the input guys! |

The guys getting my VIN were startled cause they didn't realize I was just around the corner or something... I'm sure I had a look on my face like,
They just acted like they weren't doing anything and the guy writing dropped the paper. I picked it up and low and behold it had the first 5 numbers of my VIN. I wanted to get up in their faces, but being a skinny white honky in the middle of Arlington didn't inspire heroic confidence in my ability to keep from getting my face beat in. That's part of why I went with something besides a honda this time around. Um, that and got tired of no-traction and torque-steer. |

You could always cover your vin with black tape for a little extra piece of mind.

Yeah, they are a special breed over there at Alamo. Had some work done over there before I realized I could do it better myself. I always had the hardest time figuring out who actually worked there and who was just hanging around. I actually talked to some of them for what seemed like hours because the two people actually working on my car kept breaking studs and ***** and since there ain't no lobby or waiting room you pretty much hang around your car making sure none of the "thugs" jack your *****. It's like every time I went there, they always had like 10 people there doing nothing and I still had to wait for two hours to get some real simple ***** installed. All in all I really can't complain about there work, everything works and nothing got jacked. Don't know about the VIN number though?

The vin number is a new way car thieves are using. they get you vin number, call the dealer and impersonate you into getting a duplicate key made. then they walk to your car, use the key and you get own3d.

So we should all go outside right now and tape up the last few numbers of our vin?

The dealership is dumb enough to give out duplicate keys solely based on your VIN number?

I would think they need the title. Unless it's the buddy system.

i agree with the others about alamo. FIS all the way!
I asked them to do a simple egt probe drilled into my passenger side exhaust manifold. Not only did they look at my funny thinking i knew nothing i was talking about the thing took about an entire day of me waiting around! Unbelievable! I got the car back and the probe was drilled into my downpipe! Needless to say i was over charged and was too disgruntled to do anything about it and left. |
