Some Socal Porting V3 love the other day. This turbo jams for sure. Way better than the STX units on the market in terms of reliability, spool and performance.
Specific torque limiting here holding 320-330WTQ but carrying power all the way to redline. This keeps these engines in one piece versus the peak number guys jamming them with 400WTQ down low. 18PSI carrying to ~21PSI by redline. This car has: Stock engine 25K Socal V3 Verti TBE GS Intake TGV/EBCS Cobb Flex Ethanol content around 83% which is incredible for New England especially in the winter. Southbend clutch/OE FW Fuel pump

OMG that's awesome!
Is this a stock block? I am in touch with Socal Porting to get the V3 done to my turbo. Any idea what can be done while keeping torque below 330 on 93 octane with full bolt ons except intake and header? My goal is 360 whp without flex fuel. |

This will do 360WHP easy on 93, if the car is on flex we don't tune 93 near max effort at all. Chris |

I am nit-picking for a good reason.
Somehow it looks like the HP/TQ are crossing at 5000 RPM rather than 5250. This puts your peak HP further downstream. Please correct me if I am not reading the graph correctly. |

Since you guys have tuned with both Perrin & KB headers, how would you rate them between quality & performance?

Just my observations/design critique.
Materials: Perrin is 304, KB is 321 Merge: Perrin has a welded merge, KB has a cast merge. It's open to debate which merge shape has better performance. Welds: Welds are not desirable from a reliability point of view, so the fewer the better. This is due to the change in material properties in the HAZ (heat affected zone) of the weld which typically is more brittle and why cracks often form at weld joints. KB design has fewer welds. Made: I know KB is made and welded in the US. Perrin does not state where it is made, or at least I can't find it. Cost: the same at normal price ($968 vs. $961). Perrin is currently on sale at $823 on their website. |

60 emails of me being a pain in the ass later and finally dropped the car off. Took a few weeks to get a phone call back from one other local shop, didn't even get a response from a couple. A+ customer service from these guys

^^^^ That car on the left upset some people this past weekend.
We decided to turn that car up onto full kill mode. The car has been posted here before I think. It made 380WHP with the same mods for well over a year, no issues. It is here for some upgrades and we talked with the customer about some glory runs to see what it could put down. We were honestly completely shocked by the power it made. People will say yea it's not a dyno jet, yea you can fudge the numbers blah blah blah. We don't do that, that isn't what has got us here to begin with. The dyno is our MD500SE AWD Mustang Dyno. Stock DIT will do around 230WHP on this unit. This car has the following mods: Stock unopened engine Stock turbo (no porting or wheel work) Stock transmission E66 Ethanol blend Upgraded clutch KillerB EWG header Tial gates GS EBCS TGVD Cobb flex kit Cobb AP TBE Cobb intake ETS FMIC Final pull was 452WHP/414WTQ, tapered the torque in as late as possible and kept as low as possible to help keep it together. We made 5 pulls on the car all above 430WHP. Unbelievable how far this platform has come in the past few years, very very stout engine overall from our testing. Impressive!
On another note, hoping to hear any updates on the tuned CVT WRX's out there.. it's been a few years so hoping to hear how it went in terms of reliability and overall experience. Looking forward to get mine tuned soon. |

sort of a WRX newbie, but do you have to bring the car in or can you write a tune for my mods and send it to me?
(sorry if it's a dumb question, I'm coming from the diesel truck world where you can do exactly that) also, now that it's been a few years since you guys have started tuning, have you seen any reliability issues at all? I really want to tune my WRX for around 300 to the wheels, and it looks like a TBE / drop in filter, some 93 octane and the right tuning can get me right around there thanks |

AP Map 91? and 93? Also, if I put later the SPT STi exhaust, does it change something relative to the tune? https://www.subaru.ca/Content/7907/m...D441SVA100.jpg Thanks Last edited by BHOD; 03-22-2018 at 09:59 PM. Reason: forgot to mention SPT exhaust |
