Default Do I need a re-paint or a polish?

I know I could probably find an answer to this somewhere, but I'm gonna make a post anyways. Based on the pictures, do you guys think I need to repaint my hood, or will a buff and polish work?

Looks like the early stages of clear coat failure, you can buff that off but it will just keep coming back.

Once the UV protection is depleted the paint will return to that state.

I did a paint correction on this vehicle some years ago and the wing was a lost cause, in the interest of "science" I corrected it free of charge and put on a ceramic coating that "prevents UV oxidation".

Six months later the wing was back to its original state.

The best and most permanent solution is re-paint.

If your end goal is to have it repainted, it wouldn't hurt to polish with a light compound and see what happens. The down side is, you will be removing more clear coat when you compound. So, essentially, making it fail faster. If you don't want to repaint for as long as possible, just keep a good coat of wax/sealant on it.

Keep in mind when you polish it will take a fine amount of the remaining clear off and will ultimately cause you to have to repaint earlier.
