![]() Hello there!
As the title says, and giving more info, we have the whole ECU harness of a JDM 02' WRX (NB-R) installed on a car (that also has a 4C 4.44 gearbox) which original 02' JDM WRX NB-R engine died, and my buddy bought an 05' JDM WRX engine. My question is: will anything go wrong with the ECU or any thing to consider before connecting? I was wondering if AVCS are compatable among the GD chassis or if it will not work at all. Any info will be appreciated!

![]() if the 02 has avcs and the 05 has avcs, then you are fine, both are 16bit ECU's. you will need a tune of course.

But why you say tunning is required? Since most if not all the parameters are the same? Can you share a little bit of info about that? Thanks a lot! |

![]() mapping might be a bit different throughout the years. its just a precaution. u dont need a full dyno tune, but check the map to make sure everything is running smooth.

You'll need a full retune or the 205 motor could get a good amount of knock. I don't have time to look at the maps right this moment and compare, but you'll probably find a good number of differences. Edit: you'll need a tune either way because even running the jdm motors on USDM 93 octane usually results in Knocks in the higher rpm regions. Last edited by ShinjiML; 07-18-2017 at 08:39 AM. |

However, I've never mentioned an ej207 here mate. The whole ECU and its harness is from a JDM EJ205 WRX (NB-R) and the engine we installed is a JDM 05 EJ205 as well (WRX) not a STi as you refer to ej207 I assume. So it's an ej205 ecu with an ej205 engine, both JDM. Now we have monitored the engine with software and there's nothing wrong in it as far as we have checked with the laptop. It eventually will get tuned as soon as a wideband arrives from the shop but no detonations or knocks detected so far. By the way, I live in Chile, South America, and the highest octane here is 97 (Shell V-Power), lowest being 93 and the "ficticious" 95 which is a mix of both. Edit: the car boost at 1.1bar peak then lowers itself to 0.9bar which should be normal for a stock setup w/ stock boost control solenoid. |

![]() just to clarify:
the title says V7. (i know it also says wrx) here in north america, "versions" only relate to STi models and not WRX's. so saying you have a V7 says you have a EJ207. also half these people dont know what bar is let alone how to convert it. 1bar = 100kpa = 14.5psi = 14.2kg/cm2 sorry for any confusion. also your gas is 97RON which is about 92OCT in north america. |

Anyways, the car is just normal and acts as it should. However I'm still in doubt if the engine has AVCS or not, can't figure out that but I'll post info on another section of the forum. Just a little bit off-topic: which is the highest rating on OCTANE over the US? Just asking that because we don't have a higher oct rate than that down here and that's the "premium" we have, no more. I wonder if it would have problems with the car ignition or something related. Anyways we are tunning tomorrow and I hope to post more results. Edit: is it boosting "normally" for a stock setup? Thanks Titter! |
