it is the tmic hitting the hood, i have the same problem which is why i am going FMIC. it is only like that because of the bigger turbo, if u or i had a stock turbo, it would fit nice..

nice set-up.shouldnt there be a lot more torque(like about 50).is it because of the tmic?only reason i ask is i just got my 06 tunned w/ the atp gt3076r bolt-on and made 386whp and 375lb tq (stock is 201 whp 200 lb tq)at a.m.r. on 93oct at 23 psi.they said there was a lot more power available but im still running stock internals.

Your bolt on 3076 will make power easier on pump. The true GT3076 shines on race fuel or meth. P&L's dyno tends to always read lower than others I believe.

Good results to the OP.

From what I've read up on and seen typically bolt on stock location turbos will yield better pump gas results than rotated kits on stock blocks.

wow, i honestly didint know that.so if your mainly gonna use pump gas for d.d. like most people do ( unless your loaded$$$$ and can afford race gas for d.d. or dont want to use meth) your better of with a stock mount?

I took out my TGVs and my car starts just fine when it is -35 out.

They are only there for cold start emissions.

Nice!

Sounds like your power band is almost identical to mine except yours is on 93 and mine is on 100.

Well a rotated turbo can be just as fun on a DD as a stock location turbo. They just don't really "Shine" on pump fuel and stock blocks. They can still achieve good power levels and leave a lot of room on the table. I loved my Perrin 30R on my DD STi, it all depends on the turbo you choose for your application. You don't need to run Race fuel or Meth to enjoy a rotated turbo kit, you just won't reach it's full potential without it, but it's best to have everything built to hold the power and maintain longevity.

Another thing to consider is every dyno reads different and they are just used as a tuning tool. The ATP turbo probably has to work harder to achieve the same power as a GT30R at the same boost level because it is restricted in flow in certain areas.

But I'm no expert, just my thoughts.

Exactly what he said. I have no doubt there is room to grow. With what you have to spend on this kit to get where i am its tough to add in the price of a rebuild and clutch. I could buy a new cobalt for that price

Very good point.

I can't wait for the MWSOC shootout, between this car and a few of the other local cars, it's going to be a whole lot of fast times this year.

so wait poor fuel economy, TMIC hitting something driving you crazy and poor idling cold starts = great service and happiness?

I thought most wanted the opposite, decent fuel economy, no noises from ill-fitting parts and good smooth tunes from $200/hour tuners?

not hating, IMO you shouldn't have to compromise this much, its not an all out race car its still an everyday street car

The TMIC problem is probably something i can work out. The cold start issue has been getting better over time

Im still annoyed with the power steering noises i get for about 1 mile. Again, something that will work itself out over the next few weeks

+1 on poor fuel economy, with any bigger injectors realy.
+1 , i expected better tq #s on an STi (cam timing), but the 07 maps are difficult and the tuner there is tops so i dont know.
+1, 850 injectors are not very good on cold start up and idle poor, especially PE's! DW's are much better for those issues. My car idles to wrong for me. Im changing things up asap.
i love my gt 30r kit on a DD 06 STI. Im tuned to 21.5 psi with meth and 418/403, high reading dyno. Boost almost comes on to quick and she just stops 'pulling' at 55k rpm..sortof...ha. Great powerban.

Odd, i get ~320 miles to a tank of gas with my PE850's and 30R. I cruise to vegas from orange county which is ~260 miles, and im still at ~ 1/4 tank when i arrive. Also i've never had a problem with cold starts or idle with my PE850's, in fact they idle great! IMO tuning has everything to do with these two issues..

320 damn...

I might be that i did a reflash on my way to work after i threw the code. Coming back home was 2 hours of stop and go in Chicago traffic. I'll have new numbers this weekend from the shootout
