Ahaa so your saying go with the v7 ej207. Alright but where would i be able to get one for a decent price and/or either new or not abused. And can all of the ej20 parts fit in the ej207 motor.

Aftermarket wise about the parts fitting

Do you really want to put a 10 year old used motor in your car? It could have been sitting in a junk yard next to the ocean for the better part of a decade.

As for part fitment, do some research.

Hey guys, I am sure if it is covered somewhere in this thread, buy I need some gaskets for my JDM V8 motor.

Does anyone know which USDM seals will work as replacements for the V8 rear main seal and valve cover gaskets? If any?

Also, I heard that 05 USDM STi power steering hoses will work with the V8 JDM power steering pump. Can anyone verify that is the case?

Thanks,

teh chud

Valve cover gaskets vary year to year, the crank seal is the same.

If anyone's interested. I bought the new longer bolt for my timing belt job for using the newer style bearing. Here is a comparison. Old vs New plus the new part number used for the grade 9 bolt

Hmmm I used the older bolt and the newer bearing. It reached the threads and torqued to spec fine, but now you have me wondering

What was the torque specification? I don't believe there is one for this. I know the other bearings are 29 ft/lbs

So hopefully we haven't made a mistep but while installing timing belt and using a company23 camlock my helper couldnt quite get the belt notches to seat on the driver side lower cam gear. He had a wrench on the lock but I guess he didnt expect a huge amount of spring tension but needless to say when he loosened the lower lock the wrench shot out of his hand and hit me.

The avcs cam did not move. I was able by hand to rotate the driver side lower cam sprocket counterclockwise to reset to match marks.

Information is kind of spotty here... was any damage done?

Well your upper intake cam needs to be turned clockwise. The lower exhaust cam needs to be turns counter clockwise to set the timing. There is bit of pressure. I used the cam locking tool BUT you need to make sure the connections are super tight or it'll get moved by the sprung tension of the cam. The intake cam will be exactly like the exhaust cam where it'll easily turn just before the cam lobe and then you'll need to fight that to keep everything together. I know my old WRX engine that didn't have AVCS didn't move and seemed to be ok but once I tried rotating it then it unsprung and then I could set the timing

My ej207 didn't come with a power steering pulley and is different than my ej205 pulley. Anybody know what I need to order?

so the Guy who is installing my 207 swap into my GM said that there's some sort of metal or plastic clips missing that hold the axles in the differential. Does anyone know what he is talking about or where I can get them or if they're even necessary.

Rear driveshafts lock into the diff unit with some steel snaprings, the snaprings are in the diff unit, they locate in a grove in the driveshaft.

You can try o'rileys or similar place for remanufactured or if you have the old engine take the pump and adapter and transfer it to the EJ207

Grrr. Im stuck. I just didn't the past 4 his trying to get my tranny to mate to my v9 motor. I got the studs about 3/4 the way in. Got 2 bolts 95% in the top, but, for the life of me they just will not mate.

Another problem I've run into is I have 4pins pulling out of the engine harness that was on my v9. They will not lock into place. ..

DO NOT use bolt to try and force the block and trans together. If you get everything lined up the two will literally "pop" together and you can use the bolts to pull them the last cm or two. If the gap is still bigger than the width of your thumb or so without the bolts, things are not properly aligned. More than likely the input shaft on the trans lining up with the bearing on the flywheel.

Do I need the car in gear and to be spinning the crankshaft to get everything to line back up?

You could put it in gear and spin the output shaft in order to line the input shaft snout with the clutch.

now that you forced it pull it off and make sure the alignment tool still slides into the clutch/pilot bearing easily.

Has anyone had pins that wont stay in their connector.

The brown plug that came on my v9 engibe harness has 4 loose pins.

They dont look damaged but refuse to stay in.

I installed the iap avcs harness no problem.

Anyone have this problem?

Maybe your just sliding it into the connector housing in the wrong position? Also check the terminals to make sure that the little locks didn't break off or bend backwards.
