Logged a car with known dynapack numbers of 236/265 on my special stretch of road and the HP was spot on, TQ was 10 down. Tire was 25", 250lbs of total weight added between me, laptop and junk in the trunk.
The only "issue" is that this road, which is a one way on ramp to the interstate, is a *slight* incline, perhaps a 20ft climb over the course of 1/2 mile. Yes, its a long on ramp. I can do WOT and run out 1-2-3 before actually merging onto the interstate. I cant my boost to show in the AFR chart, but I have not researched that problem yet. |

No, I think the road is "good enough" since it was spot on for HP and TQ was only 10 down.
The problem is the boost wont show in the lower chart with the AFR but it comes up in "graph other data" What name should the boost column be in? I can just change that, its not a big deal. |

Sent you 3 logs. I was looking thru my archived logs and looking at what a few cars might be making (and my guesses were close to correct!) and I had a few display boost while others did not. I think its a naming issue.

Can anyone confirm that the BOOST column is a stock column name and not a modified column name? (In RomRaider logs of course)

The boost column is gonna be hard...there's like 6 different variations of "boost" u can log

Yep, that was the problem I ran into. The two logs that had manifold relative pressure (direct) (sea level) corrected *4 byte or something like that was not translating into that second chart.
but it would show under "graph other data" or whatever it was called. The "boost" column I renamed in a log file just to see what was up. |

Virtual Dyno 1.1.8
1.1.8 has been released. Come and get it!!!
Here is a list of the changes: - Fixed a bug allowing the display values popup on graph other columns to draw offscreen - Fixed UI bug that left selected profiles blue when another profile was selected - Fixed miscoloring of smoothing options on run specific context menu - Fixed UI bug where was border showing on both sides between HPTQ graph and AFRBoost graph - Fixed delay when profile is selected till the time the menu is hidden - Fixed incorrect loading of smoothing factor from saved settings file - Fixed a bug when writing columnnames.xml on update that caused the invalid root element error - Added dropdown to select profile from bottom of screen where active profile is displayed - Added check for file in use when loading columnnames.xml as it may still be updating - Added trimming of commonly trimmed char from column names when looking for column - Added EcuTek log support - Added LS2Edit log support (.LOG only) - Added Link G4 log support (after running the llc2csv converter only) - Added UV Scan log support - Added more time formats to be compatible varying time formats - Added setting to allow toggling smoothing time in case of unsmooth time signal - Revamped the settings window to be a window instead of a panel - Persist all settings across program in a common settings object instead of reading form settings screen - Moved all updating to the splash screen so updates are done before loading the application - Replaced most typeof comparisons with the 'is' keyword - Removed system serial number and install id as it caused instability with the UAC - Removed application manifests that elevated security and disabled drag and drop with UAC on - All update versions come from the webservice instead of direct web xml reads - Column updates are now through the webservice - Cancel zoom button is always visible but disabled when graph is not zoomed |

Brad, same logs used in 1.1.7 and again in 1.1.8 gave different numbers. I'm gonna double check that before I send you the logs, but have you heard this complaint yet?

I believe Brad made the smoothing algorithm better and this can slightly affect numbers. But now the numbers are more accurate now.

The smoothing algorithm has been modified as it was exponentially (compound) smoothing before. It would smooth more as the log progressed as it was using the value already smoothed for the average for the next point. This meant that the first value was compound smoothed before leading to exponential smoothing. This was completely wrong. This is the source of the power differences in 1.1.7 and 1.1.8 Just because your numbers dont match a previous version doesnt mean its wrong. Virtual Dyno has bugs in it as does all software (thats an hour long debate there) ... and I removed one and this caused the smoothing to change a bit.
Does that help? Last edited by bbarnhill; 04-02-2012 at 07:25 PM. |

Ive got a base log that I know was done right before a dynojet run and its still at 701 as it was before the smoothing modification. It may be due to the log not being exponentially smoothed later in the log like it was before and as a result requires more smoothing than before. Let me know if this is characteristic to what you are seeing.

I found something really odd- the 16bit cars are getting higher numbers since the update, but the 32bit cars are staying the same.
20g on a two liter 19psi vs 21psi old: 20g on a two liter 19psi vs 21psi new: 16g on a two liter old: 16g on a two liter new: 2005 STI tuned various setups old: 2005 STI tuned various setups new: My 16 bit cars want the old version back plz..... I feel uncomfortable using the program with the new numbers... EDIT: if I change the correction factor from 1.09 to 1.07 I get old numbers again. Still don't like it though.... |
