My R can be a guinea pig tester.

But, I am still considering selling it.

Well, the '18's have all LED tails to begin with, unlike the pre-facelifts that had halogen lights.

I'm just not a huge fan of the euro tails for the mk7.5. I think the NAR lights are cleaner. Top are stock 18's. Bottom is euro.

Still all red, the amber turn looks so good.

I got rid of my Austin wheels today.

I知 guessing these 2 sentences have nothing to do with each other? If your GTi is faster than your buddies R, it痴 also faster than a S3 lol.

I also never understood the whole "well a modified x is faster than a stock y". A stage 2 R would be faster than a stage 2 GTI in hot dry weather, let alone when it's cold and raining...

yeah... tempting... I'll have to keep my eye out, I think I saw a GTI the other day with the mk7.5 euro tails. I want to see them up close. Not thrilled with what they look like in photos, but if it gets me amber turn signals, I might just need to do it.

I was never a big fan of the austin wheels. I've actually grown pretty fond of the englishtowns that came on my R, despite the fact that most people bash them.

Personally I prefer the englishtowns to the the austins as well. Though in the end both are decent looking for oem wheels imo.

Test Drove a Manual yesterday. Great car to drive! To me it has several personalities due to being able to switch between normal, race and comfort. It truly is a luxury car with a VW badge. I was able to get them to come down to invoice which is pretty good in California. Hopefully I can have it in my possesion by this weekend.

I never understood those arguments either and if it comes down to budget then people probaby should not be modfifying a car that they may not be able to afford if the engine blows and VW denies your warranty claim due to a tune.

When it comes to roll racing, just like the ST vs RS, the case can be made that a lighter front wheel drive will have an advantage from a roll, but I have been down the high horsepower FWD path before and much prefer RWD or AWD when it comes to putting the power down and handling.

It's a very refined car that, with a push of the button, can be quite a fun car

Invoice on a Golf R is a solid deal. To my knowledge, VW has not offered any incentives on the MK7 R's, so it comes down to dealers willing to eat into their profit margins.

I agree on the multiple personalities thing... Throw it in comfort mode when you're just around town with passengers. Track mode for those spirited days. And I made my custom setting all track settings except normal suspension. Gives me the spirited steering, throttle, etc. but more compliant suspension for the messy roads. I'm in custom mode probably 50% of the time, comfort mode 50% of the time. Still only at 700 miles so I haven't really spent much time in Track pushing the car.

Cool to see pricing in CA coming down to invoice.

I don’t even care about straight line speed. I want an R because of the DCC, the interior, and the AWD. I love the GTI, but I dislike its FWD driving characteristics – mainly that it’s hard to launch and the wheel hop makes it seem like the engine is going to come back through the firewall. I don't have the mechanical LSD, but the one wheel spin through a corner gets old, too.

The wife is keeping her GTI another year and will likely get rid of it before the warranty is up. Kinda in a car shopping dilemma for next year.
