What is the weight of the stock tires on the 2002 WRX?

Hey guys,

i was planning to buy 18" rims for my Impreza and wanted to compare the weight of the stock rims to the after market rims i want to get.. I have done a search and have came up with nothing. Anyhow if anyone has info. about the stock weight rims can you pls. advise me.. thanks!

18" wheels will weigh more, not unless you plan on spending lotz of money for super light weight wheels.

Do a search in the Tires and Suspension forum for wheel weights. I know that the MY98-01 wheels weight in at around 16 or so pounds. I"m not too sure how much the WRX wheels weigh.

As far as I know the stock 16x7 inch WRX rims weigh about 16.5 pounds each.

17" OZ Superleggra Lightweight Rims weigh about a good 17.5lb's. So, if your concerned about weight, maybe you should just invest in those babys. If you go for 18", it's going to be real pricey to keep it lighter than stock MY02 WRX [email protected]. Maybe look around at the Volk Racing TE37's. What rims are you looking at specifically and how much are you willing to spend?

stock WRX rims are 16x6.5

Thanks guys for your replies... man i never knew my stock rims where only 16.5 that is pretty interesting... ya i was planning to get like Limix Lineas 18" but come to think of it they are way too pricey costing around 850 each... ya i think i will go for 17" just to be safe on the weight aspect of things. Anyone got suggestions? i am will to spend maybe $2500 ...

Penphoe and I went with Rota Subzeros. In 17" they weigh under 17 lbs. They fit your price range, including tires.

Be weary about bending rims on rubber band tires. For $2500 you can easily get O.Z. rims - pretty tough, but not the lightest like the P1's. SL's are pretty light.
